Ongoing development of the Accident, Emergency, and Maternity Theatre in Gem Constituency, a project fully funded by County Funds. This facility features two modern operating theatres for both inpatient and emergency procedures, supported by a 20 bed emergency wing and a 15 bed casualty wing. In direct fulfillment of the Nyalore Manifesto, this project places high quality healthcare at the forefront of our agenda. Once completed and equipped, the facility will significantly increase access to assisted deliveries and improve pregnancy outcomes for mothers in the region. Furthermore, its strategic location along the Kisumu-Busia Highway allows it to serve as a vital trauma and accident center, ensuring rapid response to emergencies. #NYALORE

RE: A RENEWED MANDATE FOR DOCTORS' REPRESENTATION: THE ROAD TO 2031 A RESOUNDING MANDATE To every doctor who participated in this election: thank you. Whether you submitted nominations, cast your vote, or engaged in our forums, your faith is the fuel that drives this union. I am deeply humbled and honored by the trust you have placed in re-electing me and my team. This is not merely a personal victory, it is a collective triumph for our union. Together, we have already secured meaningful progress for doctors, and that momentum will now accelerate. I am pleased to confirm that all elected officials have been duly registered and gazetted, with the official extract issued to the union. With this legal mandate secured, your leaders are fully empowered and ready to serve with renewed focus and resolve. I extend my sincere congratulations to all candidates who offered themselves for election. Your participation strengthens our internal democracy and keeps this union vibrant. I extend an open hand to each of you, we will need your continued engagement, support, and constructive challenge to build an even stronger KMPDU. To the elected county and national representatives: congratulations. We step into this term at a time of evolving threats to union organizing and to both our public and private healthcare systems. The upcoming Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) will further consolidate this leadership as we elect Trustees and constitute Union Committees to complete our governance structure. DEMOCRACY AND ACTION: OUR PRIORITIES As Secretary General, my mandate is derived from the workers. I remain firmly committed to upholding our constitution and taking direction from the membership. We will be guided by our renewed union strategy, with success measured not in words, but in action. We are here to disrupt the status quo until every doctor receives their due. We are moving immediately to deliver on the following priorities: Settling All Arrears: Immediate demand for payment of all outstanding arrears across the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, and Ministry of Defence. Basic Salary Adjustments: Ensuring all agreed salary adjustments are fully reflected in every payslip. County Arrears: Fast-tracking payment of 2024–2025 arrears for doctors in the counties. No doctor should work under debt. Protecting the Pipeline: Securing seamless posting for all 2026 interns and advancing the mass employment of doctors to address workforce gaps. Career Progression: Immediate implementation of pending promotions nationwide. Merit must be matched with progression. Total Compliance: Full enforcement of all Return to Work Agreements and a permanent, comprehensive solution to medical insurance. The 2025–2029 CBA: Prioritizing the negotiation, signing, and full implementation of the 2025–2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement within this financial year. ENGAGEMENT WITHOUT BARRIERS This election has spoken clearly: members want a union that listens as much as it leads. This term marks a new phase of deeper engagement and more dynamic communication. We will remain present and accessible ensuring information flows consistently, transparently, and in all directions. CLARION CALL: ONE UNION, ONE VOICE Colleagues, our strength remains our unity. Individually, we are a whisper but together, we are a roar. Our greatest asset is a membership that refuses to be divided. Let us move forward as one union setting aside differences, standing firm in solidarity, and committed to securing dignity for every doctor, full implementation of our agreements, and a stronger healthcare system for all. SOLIDARITY FOREVER! SIGNED: DR. DAVJI ATELLAH SECRETARY GENERAL, KMPDU

At about 43 Kenya shillings a litre, Angola has the lowest price of fuel in sub Saharan Africa. I am reliably informed that in Libya fuel is less than 10 Kenya shillings a litre. Why are we importing fuel from the golf countries? Again, what is this G to G business all about??

WHAT KIND OF NATION ARE WE BECOMING? I speak with deep pain and anger as my home, Mbeere North in Embu County, mourns the loss of two lives cut short after police allegedly opened fire on peaceful demonstrators in Ishiara. As a son of this soil, this is personal. These are my people, citizens who had taken to the streets not in violence, but in protest over the deteriorating state of healthcare in our county. The situation at Ishiara Level 4 Hospital is dire, and residents have every right to demand better services, better facilities, and dignity in healthcare. Instead of listening to their cries, the response was bullets. Reports that the officers involved were in plain clothes raise grave concerns about accountability, command, and the rule of law. Who was in charge? Who gave the orders? Why are peaceful citizens being treated as enemies? This is not the Kenya we should be building. A nation where citizens are gunned down for demanding basic services is a nation drifting dangerously off course. The collapse of the health sector at the county level is now costing lives, not just in hospitals, but on the streets where frustrated wananchi are left with no option but to speak out. I stand firmly with the people of Ishiara. And on a personal level, I will not rest until justice is served. I will pursue every avenue necessary to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that such a tragedy never happens again. I demand an immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into this incident. Those responsible must be brought to book without delay. We cannot normalize violence against unarmed citizens. We must defend the right to peaceful assembly, restore accountability in our security agencies, and fix the broken systems that are pushing our people to the edge. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. We stand with you in grief, and in the pursuit of justice. Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done.
