@MattBainbridge @rhiannonev I'd add to this, as a teacher who taught in the state sector for 15 years and moved to the independent sector 4 years ago...the biggest difference is the freedom that schools have to focus on what actually matters, rather than what they're measured on.

@rhiannonev 5/ Most parents also know their kids wouldn't be exceptional in State Schools because they're not as bright as they like to imagine and/ or they're lazy and entitled.

Private school is around 10 THOUSAND A TERM. You CANNOT "make a few sacrifices"/"work hard" and have a spare THIRTY THOUSAND A YEAR <per child!> It is a complete myth and I cannot stand to hear it ONE MORE TIME. It's not "normal families working hard" and "prioritising education"

Is there any research into teachers who stay in classrooms twenty years plus without going into SLT/part time/consultancy? It'd be so interesting to look into how these people have managed it and what sort of characteristics they have in common.
