As the political class led by our MPs trade blame over who defeated the women's reservation bill a simple question: Does 21st century India need a law to force parties to give representation to women? Why can't all parties just give half their tickets to women? If they did we wouldn't be witness to this farce. Would we? Hypocrites all.

बिल के गिरने के बाद दुखद था कुछ महिला सांसदों को मेज़ थपथपाते देखना। आधी आबादी को पूरी ताकत देने वाले संविधान संशोधन बिल को विपक्ष का साथ नहीं मिला विपक्ष ने बिल गिरने पर मेज थपथपा कर स्वागत किया। बिल को पास करने के लिए दो तिहाई सांसदों का समर्थन जरूरी था। कुल 528 वोट पड़े उस लिहाज़ से दो तिहाई मतलब 352 वोट चाहिए थे। बिल के समर्थन में- 298 बिल के विरोध में- 230
