@sainsburyarch I remember making this, complete with chocolate leaves - and then it slid off the plate as I was putting it in the fridge and landed upside down on the floor. Still tasted nice, if slightly gritty.

Students really enjoyed the whole day including a visit to Oxford University Museum of Natural History @morethanadodo where we spotted the pillar made of Torquay limestone.

A wonderful trip to Exeter College Oxford with year 9 and year 12 #TorquayAcademy students. Thanks to @ExColOutreach for putting on a great programme!

@RestIsPolitics @campbellclaret @RoryStewartUK Since 1979 we've had three large periods of time with the same party in power (1979-1997, 1997-2010, 2010-??). Was politics better back in the sixties and seventies when there were regular changes of government?

I have a report out this morning with @instituteforgov on why drastic reform of the exam system is the last thing we need. Instead we should move to a new model of incremental improvement in assessment. instituteforgovernment.org.uk/sites/default/…

Making the most of the #sunshine to read @kathrine_28 book Disciplinary Literacy. Love the clear Teaching & Learning expectations for teachers & students which also support #coaching.

Students have been through a lot and that means we should expect behavior to be a challenge next year. Some notes on preparing to teach behavior (rather than merely give consequences):

@FlintTeaches Always seems *less* accurate to me than the old approach. And (unlike other subjects) little similarity in the mark schemes from year to year.

@adamboxer1 @broomesci I've tried both... and I feel that triangles do have the edge, but then I'm a chemist so I'm not entirely sure I'm qualified to comment on this area of physics pedagogy!!
English

@broomesci have you tried not using triangles? if no, then your results don't really prove anything I'm afraid.
English

I disagree with every point. They’re a vital tool within the kit we use to tackle calculations. Results and student understanding over the last 5 years demonstrate their worth for us!

Impressed by the huge number and very wide range of Cultural Knowledge articles our Torquay Academy staff have written. Well over 300 in just two and a half weeks! Very proud of this achievement.

@mgale_devon I am really excited about next year if all goes to plan - it makes for a good focus right now!

Very much looking forward to discussing literacy strategy with @Kathrine_28 tomorrow - exciting plans for reading across the curriculum, library usage, disciplinary literacy.
