Corticosteroid use based on severity of CAP implemented into the guidelines: 2024: recommend use in severe CAP 2017: previously recommended use in all hospitalized patients with CAP

Additionally, guidelines give suggested steroid dosing schemes based on timing. Early ARDS (<24 hr): suggest DEXA-ARDS dosing (PMID: 32043986) Early ARDS (<72 hr): suggest Meduri dosing (PMID: 9669790) Unresolving ARDS (7-21 d): suggest Meduri dosing (PMID: 17426195)
