Chanukah should be a time of celebration and joy.
The news that the Bondi beach attack was an antisemitic terrorist attack against Jewish families at a Chanukah event is sickening.
My thoughts are with the victims and their families.
The United Kingdom will always stand with Australia and the Jewish community. We are actively working with the @CST_UK on the policing of Chanukah events.

1. I don't agree with this chant/ think it's okay.
2. I don't think chants on the streets of Britain about globalising Intifada are okay.

Yesterday was my 200th Premier League match. I’m incredibly grateful for my journey with West Ham. Full of amazing moments, but also some disappointments.
Thank you all so much for your support, especially to the fans, whom I truly appreciate and share a special bond with. I’m really sorry about our current situation. West Ham doesn’t belong where we are right now. I’ll do everything I can to help turn things around and get WHU back where it belongs!!

Spoken with a number of Labour MPs in seats with large Jewish communities. Unsurprisingly concerned about the timing of Palestine recognition announcement which has provoked anger in some quarters. But also some concern the govt failed to get the not insignificant number of

@DuddridgeLloyd That’s the problem isn’t it though, the recognition has come before the conditions or even guarantees of conditions that bring back the hostages and secure peace. PM can say these are things he wants but hasn’t he already now given them what they want so why would they?

One important thing to remember. Today’s recognition is nothing to do with diplomacy, security or even morality. It is solely about the electoral and internal priorities of the Labour Party.

Two states without Hamas sounds like something worth supporting and the only roadmap to the peace we all want.

@Keir_Starmer Absolutely sickening- don’t bother wishing the Jewish Community a Happy New Year because not only is this a terrible way to try and achieve peace in the Middle East but here you have made the Jewish Community in the UK more vulnerable and insecure. Lost my vote for ever more.
