Hey so if any law students or baby lawyers want to know what it’s like being in-house, it’s this. And this is not an exaggeration.

Pairs men may be even rarer & more sought after + are their own special breed of evil, but ice dance men are a special breed of narcissistic demons who think they are the stars & prize + that their partners are just a replaceable accessory for them to succeed. The reality is most

@Great_Chumpion @atlanticesque This!! Let’s all pay taxes, some of us more than others, and then we ALL get free or affordable/subsidized pre-k, grade schools, college, healthcare, public transit, etc. (I grew up in Singapore where we mostly did this and I lowkey miss it)

@atlanticesque When you go far enough to the left you don't care if the wealthy get some services because means-testing is expensive and makes poor kids who get it feel a sense of shame Who cares with pre-k, get rid of means testing costs, make it normal for all kids and not a mark of shame!

@SimoneHCollins For sure - that’s why I still live here! I have had many friends move on after a few years when they’ve had enough and want a change. The world is large and there is space for everyone to lead the kind of life that suits THEM best! 💕

@mich_lim That's a really good picture of urban life done well. Thanks for taking the time to actually answer the question, as we were legit curious! Cities were clearly wasted on us, but you are 100% getting the value from the price of admission. It's comforting to know some people are!

Can someone explain to us what urban 34-year-olds are doing in the cities that's so fun and special? We remember walking to the grocery store, trying to pack a week's worth of food into a small fridge and freezer, and maybe being robbed blind for mediocre food at a restaurant.
Murray Hill Guy@MurrayHillGuy1

How do people in the suburbs genuinely look forward to Friday night on the couch, Saturday morning at Costco, and call that a weekend? Like you really moved out of the city just to LARP as your parents at 34?

@OnDisasters The fuller form recording shows an extraordinary chaos where the poor tower guys are being forced to do the basic logistics works for American (?) Airlines, whose own ground ops crew don’t pick up the phone Tower was clearly understaffed and this is the sad result

This article is a great reminder that a lot of the affordability panic is self-imposed. This couple wants to live next to Central Park, “tries” to cook dinner twice a week & spends $50,000+ a year on bougie childcare when the NYC average tops out at half that. These are choices.

@EmpireofCincy @SimoneHCollins And that’s fine! I think that happens to a lot of people. The city is wide and can accommodate people at all life stages. I’m glad you enjoyed it when you were younger, and am also glad you were able to recognize when it was time for a different environment to make you happier!

@SimoneHCollins The city was fine when I was 24 and spent most evenings dining out and going to bars on weekends. I outgrew the lifestyle and left.

@SimoneHCollins That’s not a ton since I only got started at 2ish, but for 230pm - 11pm, it was plenty!! I did also sleep in and eat lunch at home before going out (my husband made us sushi bowls with salmon, yellowtail, avocado). Idk, urban life doesn’t suck if you have hobbies and friends!

@SimoneHCollins I’ve scaled down my social life DRASTICALLY in my 40s vs 20s, and yday I: - went to a tap dance class - biked over to a circus class - caught the L to Bushwick to grab great beers at Evil Twin, then see my friends in a show - Had amazing tacos al pastor on the street post-show

@karenvaites I applied from overseas as a foreign student, so didn’t get a chance to visit campus before I accepted my admit offer, but made my decision based on the city’s reputation, and have never once regretted going to college in NYC despite the terrible weather here! 💕

A lifetime ago, in my very first job, I worked as a college admissions dean for my alma mater. We always held admitted students’ visit weekend in April, and I was blown away to learn that the admission staff could predict the “yield” from that event (the share of visitors who’d enroll) based on the forecast. ☀️ = the class might be over-enrolled ☔️ = we might be going to the wait list They were never wrong in their weather-based predictions. I’ve always considered this to be a fascinating indicator about the whole college application endeavor.

@603greg @nxd1979 Me trying to explain this to my American husband: “you don’t even need to discuss any highfalutin concepts! B1 is just, can you get yourself to the store, buy the loaf of bread you want, and thank the baker for it? Which seems more than fair if you’re gonna LIVE there”

@nxd1979 This isn't a high bar to anyone serious about moving to Italy. If you didn't have this level of proficiency you'd struggle. And someone with the money to afford to move or buy a second home can afford to take classes.

@jabo1331 @AmericanAir @2K4MCHAMMER Flew them twice last week and was six hours delayed going out and three hours delayed coming back in. So if I had a nickel for every time American Airlines got me somewhere very late, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot of nickels, but they’re still 0 for 2.

Listen up #fstwt newbies - all Alysa Liu-sers, Amber Glennheads and Ilia quadgod devotees. There’s a skater you should know, named Josh Farris. He went to worlds once due to injury, but his skating was groundbreaking for 2015. Time for a history lesson.

Wait so genuine question, for the gala do they prep a separate routine in advance "just in case", dust off and remix an old routine they still remember pretty well, or are they cramming the night before, like how does this work?
