The NHL was a cable only sport in the US during the 80s and into the early 90s. NBC’s coverage of the NHL All-Star Game starting in 1990 was the only NHL event aired nationally on regular TV. Marv Albert and John Davidson called the action with Mike Emrick rinkside.
