📢I'm joining NYU (Courant CS + Center for Data Science) starting this fall!
I’m excited to connect with new NYU colleagues and keep working on LLM reasoning, reliability, coding, creativity, and more!
I’m also looking to build connections in the NYC area more broadly. Please reach out if you're interested in chatting!
This move comes after 8 years working with incredible students and collaborators at UT Austin. Thank you to everyone who supported me in my first academic appointment; I look forward to continuing our collaborations but I will miss you! (and the breakfast tacos!)

@migballesteros @WilliamWangNLP Looks good. Let's go today for some tacos at one of the best taquerias in the city.
English

Had street tacos in Mexico City and now I’m questioning if any taco I’ve ever had in the US was even trying to be legit. #NAACL2024 🤣
English

@pywirrarika @WilliamWangNLP maps.app.goo.gl/c6AkSmHrg9Sov9… I don't know if this is street tacos or not, but they are the best tacos I've ever had
English

@migballesteros @WilliamWangNLP had you already street tacos? :o

ACL has removed the anonymity period.
This means that ACL submissions can be posted and discussed online at any time, although extensive PR is discouraged.

@zehavoc @xavier_nlp Yeah I saw that, but your question was about academic climate in Spain :)
English

@migballesteros @xavier_nlp I just checked number of native speakers in la Hispanidad :)
English

Hey @carlosgr_nlp, and NLP Spanish pp, do you happen to know why there has been so little work, back in the days, in the constituent parsing of Spanish ? Can't find much besides @gchrupala, Cowan & Collins and ours own. Maybe in Spanish only? Should I dig the SEP proceedings?
English

@migballesteros I think @xavier_nlp did something before his PhD on spanish morphology but I'll check, thanks.
I don't understand why a language spoken by 436 millions native speakers is not more visible in NLP. Academic climate in Spain ?
English

@zehavoc I do not, but I would look into Carreras' work
English

@migballesteros you were more of dependency parsing guy but maybe you know?

Thought this was a good explainer of Amazon Bedrock and how we’re thinking about helping customers innovate with machine learning.
⏩ You’ve seen the headlines, you know this technology is moving fast. We believe there will not be one model that will rule them all, and the best way to serve our customers is by giving them a choice of models.
🔨Along with choice, Bedrock gives access to leading models without the large cost to build and maintain the infrastructure.
🏋Our teams did some extraordinary lifting to overcome challenges in distributed computing, developing specialized accelerators for higher throughput and lower cost. (Trainium and Inferentia)
🔒Customer data is kept secure. Period. Data security at Amazon is often referred to as “job zero.”
Amazon’s Titan models within Bedrock also help customers detect and remove harmful content. Encourage you to read more. amzn.to/44rgN3m

The emergence of open source LLMs led to the potential generation of toxic outputs. Amazon Bedrock, the latest step in the company’s ongoing effort to democratize ML, uses Titan FM to help customers detect and remove harmful content in inputs and filter model outputs. #GenAI

@zehavoc @mdlhx @JoakimNivre If I remember correctly the lemma was already annotated in the corpora, and when it wasn't, we did not use it
English

@migballesteros @mdlhx @JoakimNivre that makes me think that you were running a independant classifier for each of your morph features in maloptimizer, right? how did you handle lemma for OOV back then?
English

@stats_feed I'm pretty sure I have seen higher in Spain

“The Narrows” - @SuperRare. This particular shot has never been taken before. Taken at almost 3 miles above NYC in a 🚁 with the doors open. The pilot had to be on Oxygen to legally and safely pilot the aircraft. This is the result of a highly planned and coordinated photo shoot.
