Hi Andy,
It is not possible to teach, discuss let alone read sacred scripture outside of a theological tradition. Whenever anyone talks about what is in the Bible they are “doing theology”. The more conversant we are with the diversity of theological tradition the greater the depth we gain in our understanding the riches of revelation. How else does Spirit guide us beyond sacred text and a community? The scripture is the most vocal authority but it is an authority we must wrestle with in dialogue with interpretive tradition.
