Also, I don't think culling 7.5 million chickens is the same as the flu has 'killed' 7.5 million chickens. We could inflate the numbers in the same way with humans... oh wait.

@NickHudsonCT They are possible only in theory. Globally, people would need to be starving, severely malnourished, at war, crammed in tight spaces, with no clean water, zero hygiene, etc. Or, a similar effect, perhaps, could be achieved by slowly damaging / 'erasing' people's immune systems...

It seems there are now people who seriously believe as follows: - Covid presenting a medical emergency was bullshit. - Asymptomatic transmission was bullshit. - Lockdowns were bullshit. - School closures were bullshit. - Masks were bullshit. - The vaccines were bullshit. - Contact tracing and containment were bullshit. - Social distancing was bullshit. - Our public health, political and media institutions are bullshit because they lied about all of the above. But when it comes to the sequencing, the phylogeny, the primer manufacturing, the variants and the etiology linking those things to a disease? Well, that whole business is pure as the driven snow and not contaminated by facing the self-same funding and conflicts of interest that permitted the above bullshit to destroy society. The scientists in that field are brilliant and completely above believing their own bullshit, and they played no part in facilitating any of the above. I suppose that after four years of relentless malarkey, I can't really describe myself as surprised to find that there are such people, but I really doubt that I will find them to be good brothers in arms.

If this criterion is removed an organisation with serious conflict of interests like the WHO can declare a pandemic every time a person sneezes.
