It is literally the case illustration of how NOT to structure a contract or run a program. So much so that even the profligate US government will never again contract away its data rights and forced reliance on the contractor for maint. and upgrades. And how about the mission capability rates of only 50-60%? And GAO projects $300 B plus cost over run. Yes a raging success.

They pay for their own R&D and deliver products governments are free to buy or not buy. Legacy US defense contractors should revert to that model and actually try to run succesful businesees by selling products that work from purchase and not require 15 years of fixes at taxpayer expense (F35). That program was criminal but like always, zero accountability. No one gets fired, just promoted. And let's not even talk about the Navy which cant even build a new ship design at all, let alone on time and on budget. Proof is in these companies lack of profitability. They Function more like a branch of the government than free enterprise.

No, it's not. Many charecteristics of the video preclude it being a flare. "Smoke" trail shows as colder than ambient air on the IR camera. Smoke is hot, not cold. Motion does not correlate to a flare, especially at end when object goes up and rapidly out of frame while the "parachute" goes down but stays in frame. AND flares have ROUND parachutes, not rectangular ones. As concluded by the trillion dollar plus a year DOD/IC, object is UNKNOWN.

Apollo Cameras were manual analog film cameras, not digital. The lunar surface Hasselblad Data Cameras (modified 500EL models) lacked light meters, automatic exposure, or any electronic sensors for measuring light. Astronauts relied on pre-determined settings developed from earlier missions. No sensors present (didnt exist at that time) just a photographic lense and NASA use low sensitivity film.

wrong. the "smoke" trail shows colder than the ambient air on the FLIR. Smoke from flares is hot, not cold. And the motion in no way corresponds. At the end of the clip the object goes up and rapidly out of frame while the "parachute" goes straight down. No idea what it is, but definitely not a flare.

The president is making posts about ship-based lasers on U.S. destroyers. He’s probably referencing Lockheed Martin’s Helios laser defense system. However to my knowledge, it’s only deployed on one destroyer so far (unless something has changed overnight).

Trying to figure out how you are so defiinitive, it isdiffraction effects....case closed. The US government with its muti-trillion dollar budget, own this particular camera, and pays to have these cameras custom manufactured for it, analyzed this footage and concluded it has no idea what this is. But yet you are so certain. US govt isn't claiming this is an alien space ship, just that it is an interesting, anomalous, UNEXPLAINED object.

It’s extremely hard to “do a little disclosure” and avoid the tight scientific/societal questions. The only way this has worked has been starving smart technical people for any detail at all. What I will be watching: Everyone: “Did the government psy-op us all with BS? If so: Why????” Biologists: “You said the government has alien biologics? Do they have eukaryotic cells? If so what do we know about their histones, matrilineal mitochondrial dna, hemoglobin atp synthase??? What is their placement on the phylogenetic tree? Tetrapods??? Isolates?? If not eucaryotic, how are their cells/tissues organized? Do they use proteins?? What are their body plans??” Linguists: “What is the structure of their communication schemes? Can it be mapped onto a generalized human grammar? Or are our languages not expressive enough to cover their languages? Do they use sound or light or some other wave to transmit/receive? Do they have an analog of music??” Physicists: “How do the standard model and general relativity appear as effective theories/lagrangians of the alien understanding of the cosmic waves, media and fabric for lack of better terms? How many dimensions are there, are they engineering accessible and how many new ones are temporal? Are there new forms of energy corresponding to these new degrees of freedom? Is the speed of light gameable?” Civil Libertarians: “How many innocent lives were ruined keeping this secret? Did we fake a lot of this?? Who authorized the lying, discrediting and possible wet work?” NatSec: “Are we owned by an unknown force? Will it now be trivial easy for everyone to make WMD from new discoveries?” Etc. This is not going to stay controlled if it is at all specific. As soon as there are any specifics I guess that the game changes character instantly and goes into high gear with totally different players.

ok maybe take a breathe and step back and think critcally. Russia is FAR from the old Soviet Union militarily amd economically. Just population and manpower is a pale shadow of the Soviet Union let alone former Warsaw Pact. That isnpart of the reason Putin wants Ukraine, to assimilateore ethnic Russians to increase a stagnant, declining population. The conditions that precipitated NATO have not existed since the 1990s. Maybe it would be a productive exercise to reorganize and restructure the alliance and restate its mission tonreflect the current world security posture. Should be a world alliance including Asian powers against the Chinese, Russian, N. Korean, and Iranian alliance.
