Today marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the beginning of the end of the Second World War. CBC was there in 1944, as then Senior War Correspondent Matthew Halton was embedded with Canadian troops. This was part of his radio report.

Beautiful drive to Kirkland Lake today! Trails are fantastic! @mrsMorden4real and my better half @lnheasman12 are enjoying their 1st time riding trails this far north. They haven’t been past north bay before. @ifixum4fun and I took them on a little ride today after we got here

Close call for @Barrie_Fire and @BarriePFFA firefighters last night on highway 400. Two firefighters had to jump over the guardrail to avoid being hit. Fortunately both firefighters and the driver only sustained minor injuries. Please slow down and keep our #firefighters safe!

This is exactly why we use fire trucks as blockers at collision scenes. The truck protects the people involved (those in the collision and first responders) and provides extra staffing to assist with the collision. Please slow down when you see flashing lights.
