A book titled “Igbo Cookbook: Authentic Recipes” containing Ayamase, Ofada sauce, Efo riro, Ewedu, Gbegiri, Asun, Akara, Moi Moi, Ata dindin, Buka stew, Ogi, Boli and some other Yoruba dishes is exactly why people become hypervigilant about cultural attribution.
Then people act confused when Yoruba people push back, like in the Aadun incident that just happened here. You cannot spend years downplaying Yoruba cuisine, suddenly switch to “shared heritage,” then package a large chunk of Yoruba food under an “Igbo cookbook” label.
Even some Hausa, Efik and Ibibio dishes are inside too.
At that point, people are going to start noticing a pattern.
If this was titled “Nigerian Cookbook” or “West African Cookbook” and dishes were properly attributed by origin, nobody would care.

I was part of the first Obedient rally on the Island, the convergence point was Lekki Gate.
I mobilized, I designed and printed posters and banners, I coordinated drinks and snacks to keep the energy high. I bought shirts for friends and complete strangers alike, purchasing them days before the rally and continuing on the day itself, just to ensure the event was a resounding success.
Now, I’m a Bigot for defending the people of Isolo against an outsider who walked into Lagos with his head, he seeks to turn indigenes into second-class citizens in their own ancestral land.
I wear the name “BIGOT” with full pride, Grace and with my chest.
No apologies. No retreat.

I do not like Nupe Lawyer. Matter of fact on multiple occasions I have turned down offers to “visit” his firm because of his position on politics in Nigeria.
BUT why are you people attacking a Muslim man for being a Muslim man and marrying a second wife?
The Islamic injunction is that the man should have the financial capacity to maintain both wives and Muslim women are comfortable with being second wives, some Christians too (if they love the man enough/have other fiscal benefits eg Regina Daniels).
Is it legal? Yes he is Muslim thus not bigamy. Sharia Law covers him.
Is he capable of maintaining both wives? Extremely. I don’t like him as a person but I respect his capacity as a senior lawyer (he is one of the seniors whose kindness to juniors I emulate).
