The President of the United States is a criminal. He SHOULD have been convicted for the crimes he led on January 6th, 2021. He WAS convicted of 34 felonies for corruption and harassment. Yet somehow, instead of facing the consequences he deserves, he’s running the United States government like a mob operation. We don’t have a government for the people, by the people, of the people. We have a government of the boss, by the boss, and for the boss. It’s all for Trump. But what is Congress doing about it? Nothing. If you believe we need to demand action from our leaders – Please, sign on to my petition now: secure.ngpvan.com/ILdW0MMdjUqgnc…

Leningrad siege survivor detained in St. Petersburg for protesting war in Ukraine on 9 May In Russia’s second city, St. Petersburg, veteran protestor Lyudmila Vasilyeva was detained while she was laying flowers at the Solovetsky Stone, a monument to the victims of political repression in the Soviet Union, on the Victory Day. She was later released without charges following a trip to the police station. According to local media outlet Bumaga, the police demanded she write a statement, in which she refused to testify, citing Article 51 of the Russian Constitution that says no one is obliged to testify against themselves. The poster she carried with her reads: “Don’t cover up your crimes with a people’s victory! With love for the people. Child of the siege of Leningrad, Lyudmila Vasilyeva." Vasilyeva was born in wartime Leningrad when the city was under siege by the Nazis. She has been detained several times at anti-war and opposition rallies since 2022. A staunch critic of Vladimir Putin, Vasilyeva is a veteran of the St. Petersburg protest movement, who was fined 10,000 rubles (€110) for “discrediting the army” in 2025 after staging a solo picket in central St. Petersburg, carrying a banner saying: “People, let’s stop the war! We are responsible for peace on planet Earth”. 📷 | Slovo Zashchite, Bumaga

It’s insane. Putin has refused the 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange. This prisoner exchange was a condition for the ceasefire—and, consequently, for Ukraine’s agreement not to attack the parade in Moscow. Trump, too, announced on Truth Social: a ceasefire plus an exchange of 1,000 prisoners on each side. Putin—that piece of shit in human form—has once again lied to the entire world.

The U.S. has spent billions to lose a war that enriches its oligarchs, impoverishes the citizenry, sabotages its alliances, and strengthens its enemies. Empires have risen and failed before, but to my knowledge no state has ever chosen to kill its own power. snyder.substack.com/p/on-superpowe…

‼️It appears the Kremlin is now refusing to proceed with a prisoner exchange that was expected to return 1,000 Ukrainian POWs, despite earlier commitments. A source in the Ukrainian Presidential Office says Putin’s claim that Ukraine is not ready for the exchange is false. According to the source, the deal was brokered with U.S. mediation, and its implementation now depends on whether Washington can ensure compliance. Ukrainian and U.S. officials are reportedly in active contact on the issue. Earlier, Putin claimed Russia had not received any exchange proposals from Kyiv, while also saying Moscow had already sent a list of 500 Ukrainian POWs.

Merci, cher David.

1939: Russian-German military parade in Poland after Stalin and Hitler jointly invaded and partitioned the country. Allies made a catastrophic mistake by not destroying Russia after defeating Germany in 1945. Stalin murdered more people than Hitler.

By 1942, Lyudmyla Pavlichenko had 309 confirmed kills. She was 25. She was Ukrainian, born in Bila Tserkva. She became WW2's deadliest female sniper, a Hero of the Soviet Union, and a celebrity across the Western Allies. Soviet history filed her under "Russian." She was one of 7 million Ukrainians in the Red Army. Ukraine carried at least 40% of all Soviet losses in WWII—proportionally far more than Russia itself. The Kremlin still claims the victory as its own. Stories of Ukrainians in the Red Army in p2 of our 3-part series: euromaidanpress.com/2015/06/11/und…

MORE: Ukraine’s ability to conduct drone strikes against moving targets over 100 kilometers from the frontline, in areas where Russian forces previously were able to conduct logistics relatively risk-free, will likely achieve partial effects of battlefield air interdiction (BAI) that degrade Russian forces’ ability to conduct future offensive operations, or defend against Ukrainian counterattacks. Ukrainian forces have been intensifying their mid-range strike campaign against Russian GLOCs and military assets in occupied Ukraine since late December 2025 and have markedly increased the intensity and frequency of such strikes since March 2026, and will likely continue to do so. Intensified and sustained Ukrainian BAI efforts at operational depth may support future Ukrainian counterattacks, such as those that liberated large portions of Kupyansk in November 2025 and over 400 square kilometers in southern Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts in early 2026.

NEW: Ukrainian forces are reconnoitering and interdicting Russian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) in and near occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast (about 105 kilometers from the frontline), demonstrating increased capabilities as part of Ukraine’s intensifying mid-range strike campaign. Other Key Takeaways: Russian forces likely do not maintain positions in Kupyansk after struggling for months to support a small and isolated group of servicemembers that infiltrated into the city. Ukraine and Russia agreed to a three-day ceasefire from May 9 to 11 for the May 9 Victory Day parade and a prisoner of war exchange. Russia continued to threaten retaliatory strikes against Kyiv City ahead of the May 9 to 11 ceasefire announcement. A senior Kremlin official explicitly stated that the Kremlin demands that Ukrainian forces withdraw from the remainder of Donetsk Oblast as a precondition for a ceasefire – a battlefield objective that Russian forces have thus far failed to achieve. Russian forces are performing worse on the battlefield in Spring 2026 than when the Kremlin emphasized its demand for Donetsk Oblast in 2025. Ukrainian forces recently advanced in the Slovyansk direction and in the Hulyaipole direction. Ukrainian forces continued their long-range strike campaign against Russian defense, oil, and transportation infrastructure. Russian forces launched 67 drones toward Ukraine overnight.

@AnnieForTruth @slantchev Since 2016 the emergency docket has swelled into a major part of the court’s business, as the justices have short-circuited the deliberations of lower courts. The decisions are technically temporary, but are often hugely consequential. Rulings with no explanation or reasoning.
