A group of settlers just lynched Hamdan Ballal, co director of our film no other land. They beat him and he has injuries in his head and stomach, bleeding. Soldiers invaded the ambulance he called, and took him. No sign of him since.

It just keeps getting worse! Now, when you watch #Mulan, not only are you turning a blind eye to police brutality and racial injustice (due to what the lead actors stand for), you're also potentially complicit in the mass incarceration of Muslim Uyghurs. #BoycottMulan

Mulan specifically thank the publicity department of CPC Xinjiang uyghur autonomous region committee in the credits. You know, the place where the cultural genocide is happening. They filmed extensively in Xinjiang, which the subtitles call “Northwest China” #BoycottMulan

this ties into the point i make often about the aesthetics of class -- as beauty and thinness are increasingly only available to the rich, we've begun to code the aesthetic side effects of poverty as indicating evil, ignorance, sloth, poor taste, etc.

obviously not only rich people can be thin but almost any rich person can be thin if they want to be. and being able to devote hours a week and hundreds of dollars into changing your appearance is not something readily available to poor people. the end

@SherriDavidoff @bobmcmillan @dcast777 @WSJ @Yubico Yeah I move my SIM chip out of my old Android phones and they generally run on 802.11. Will let you know what I find out! I don't think I've even turned this phone on in over a year...

@bobmcmillan @mirthalia @dcast777 @WSJ @Yubico In addition, your phone undoubtedly synchronizes time over the network. NTP seems like the obvious choice for protocol, but now you've made me want to check :-) I imagine the method may differ depending on whether you’re connecting via cellular or 802.11.

@mirthalia @bobmcmillan @dcast777 @WSJ @Yubico Just tried this with my old iPhone- no SIM card even- and it worked great. As long as the time stays synchronized it should work just fine. I’m going to set up all my accounts on both. Great idea for a backup!

@dcast777 @SherriDavidoff @bobmcmillan @WSJ @Yubico The caveat then being not losing the burner while it's not in use. 😛 Will look into this; I know some folks on financial support services who have been desperately wanting to improve their security but are scared of getting locked out of their accounts, so this may be a solution

@dcast777 @SherriDavidoff @bobmcmillan @WSJ @Yubico Actually wait, just remembered that LastPass allows for a one-time access code that could also be written down and stored in a safe. I imagine that would be the first choice, assuming it takes priority over 2FA.
