Don't buy the lie that writing is some sort of elite activity, reserved for the most skilled or poetic or trained. The last thing we need are more sanitized, uninspired books. What we need are people who have stories stirring their souls & who are brave enough to write them down.

Extremely cold temperatures across the region are creating unprecedented demands on the power system. We are asking for everyone’s help in ensuring the power grid remains stable for us all by reducing electric power use as much as possible without sacrificing safety.

@anthonymdavis @Zondervan From the Oxford dictionary: “a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.”

@anthonymdavis @Zondervan A myth is a story we pass down over time that helps us understand our existence. How is the creation story not that?

@missallyfallon On page 4 of “The Power of Words” you used the word “Myth” for the creation account. Since words are powerful, why use a controversial word like that would divide readers? The book is published by @Zondervan a Christian publisher.

A note to authors: sometimes your words won’t appeal to the masses. Let that be ok. Sometimes it is showing you where you can get clearer with your syntax. Sometimes it’s showing you that you see something most people aren’t ready to see quite yet. Either way, keep writing.

My very first full conversation with my almost two-year-old. Her: me have chocolate chips? Me: we don’t have any chocolate chips baby. Her: me have donut? Me: we don’t have any donuts baby. Her: [long pause to think…] wow mom needs go to grocery store.

Sometimes we outgrow things. Sometimes we bust through the seams. Not because we are too big. But because the old life / thing / way was too small. And by the way. What is so wrong with being “big” anyway?

Sometimes I wonder if what we call a “strong woman” is just… a woman. It’s just not the woman we cultured to be sweet and small and responsible at all costs.

I used to think I was a fast worker. Then I became a mom. And let me tell you. You haven't seen a fast worker until you've seen a mom with 20 minutes of alone time and a to-do list.

I’m new to mom life but I think I have it: Pours cup of coffee. Never drinks. Writes half an email. Never sends. Reads text. Responds in head. Hasn’t completed a thought in…. How’d I do?

@kristenhowerton I personally don’t think using “partner” is appropriation. It’s becoming pretty common among my straight friends.

We need a new word for non-married adult committed relationships. "Boyfriend" sounds like I'm in middle school. "Fiance?" Gross, I am not 19 and in bible college (or engaged for that matter). And LGBT tiktok told me using "partner" is appropriation. Special friend? Paramour?

@kristenhowerton Woah! Partner is appropriation?! I had no idea. That’s helpful to know. (Also this is a real dilemma. Please let me know what you learn).

What you do when you write your story is you give language to your pain. It is by giving language to your pain that you transform it into power; and and this is how we set ourselves free.
