The problem with many pronouns is that a lot of them are INTENTIONALLY set up to violate the rules of the English language (using “they/them” to refer to a singular person, etc.). This is deliberately designed to cause confusion, especially among people who have lived their entire life, speaking English in accordance with the rules of the language. That kind of gamesmanship is not about acceptance, it’s about manufacturing reasons to act outraged when somebody inevitably gets it wrong.
