Dear Ms @HelleLyngSvends,
The Embassy is organizing a press briefing on the Prime Minister’s Visit this evening at 9:30pm at hotel Raddisson BluPlaza hotel. You are most welcome to come and ask your questions there.
Helle Lyng@HelleLyngSvends
Primeminister of India, Narendra Modi, would not take my question, I was not expecting him to. Norway has the number one spot on the World Press Freedom Index, India is at 157th, competing with Palestine, Emirates & Cuba. It is our job to question the powers we cooperate with.

Many years ago, I gave two presentations on how China builds its industrial and technological ecosystem—one for an Indian audience and one for a Vietnamese audience. Although the content was largely the same and went into many details that were rarely mentioned in other settings, the feedback from the Vietnamese and Indian participants was strikingly different.
When I discussed the gaps between Vietnam and China, my Vietnamese friends listened very attentively to my analysis of Vietnam’s weaknesses. They even proactively acknowledged Vietnam’s deficiencies and asked me to analyze more specific issues in greater detail.
However, when I compared China and India, many Indian friends became quite argumentative. They tried to compete with or challenge the Chinese perspective on almost every point, to the point where I could barely develop my analysis. As a result, they might have won the debate, but missed a valuable opportunity to have a meaningful exchange.
So, I came to know which country would be the real winner for "China+1" many years beforehand.

A Bengali man walks into a shop and asks,
“Dada, show me some shaarts.”
The shopkeeper pauses:
“Are you Bengali or Punjabi?”
“Why does that matter?”
“Because if you’re Bengali, you want shirts.
If you’re Punjabi, you want shorts.” 😄
Maybe this is also why the British shifted the capital from Calcutta to Delhi…
They got exhausted hearing:
“God shave the Queen!” 🇬🇧😂

“BJP workers and topmost state leaders showed me kindness and respect after their massive victory, but some Trinamool activists abused and threatened me.”

Terror and mentality of TMC goons
This video is from the Minakha constituency of North 24 Parganas, 2021, when TMC had won the election.
TMC leader Muzaffar asked the BJP Mahila Morcha president Pinki to come to him for a night.
Soon after the results, all Hindu families left the village as TMC goons wanted their women in bed with them.
Pinki's husband says that Muzaffar had told him, "Send your wife to me for a night and stay in the village."

Kindly retire from this self-assigned gerontocratic job of advising a young country like India.
Just like Sachin retired even though he was the greatest, please consider doing the same.
India has 1.4+ billion people. Statistically, it is almost certain that we already have thousands, if not tens of thousands, of individuals with the temperament, ambition, and intellectual capacity to operate at the level of an Elon Musk or a Sam Altman.
What’s missing isn’t talent. It’s intent,and a culture that doesn’t suppress that intent.
International capital is no longer inaccessible. Talent is no longer scarce. Information is no longer gated. The only real bottleneck left is mindset.
And yet, narratives like “India doesn’t need to lead frontier AI” reinforce a ceiling, one that pushes our most ambitious builders to either leave or scale down their ambitions.
99.9% can continue playing catch-up. But even if just 0.1% of Indian talent aims for frontier outcomes, superintelligence, deep tech, Kardashev-scale thinking, that alone would be enough to change India’s trajectory.
The question isn’t whether India can produce frontier builders.
It’s whether we will stop discouraging them.
