I co-introduced historic legislation to increase the minimum wage to $25. As someone who taught economics at Stanford, here is why it makes sense. The real minimum wage was $14 in 1968. Today it is half, but productivity has increased 2.5x. Instead of extractive capitalism, we need a free enterprise system that pays workers what they are worth.

Australia has 20 million plus sovereign wealth funds - each individual's superannuation.
Now $4.5 trillion and growing like the clappers & will not run out, as Norway's will when they sell the last off their oil. Oil output is already falling in Norway

Not one migrant family I know and I know hundreds, lived in any government housing when they arrived or in the years after they arrived. They fended for themselves.

@tonytardio Back when migrants arrived the Federal gov had embarked on the biggest social housing build in history, after World War 2. They built thousands of Housing Commission homes for families. That’s what the difference is. There was work and plenty of it. There was housing.

It’s not called “Greek Malibu” (even the phrase “Athens Riviera” is a recent marketing ploy by real estate agents) and we have way too many Golden Visa trophy buyers at the moment who add very little to the local economy while shooting up house prices. No more of this please.
