One of the biggest misconceptions about the Chiefs last season is that the run blocking was poor. 👀 The numbers actually tell a different story. 📊 Isiah Pacheco ranked 1st in the NFL in Run Stuff Rate — meaning he had the LOWEST percentage of runs stopped for 0 or fewer yards. In other words, the offensive line did a much better job creating initial running lanes than it gets credit for. 💪🏾 Yet despite that, Pacheco finished just 40th in yards per carry. Those two stats together paint an interesting and almost contradictory picture. If your RB is rarely getting hit behind the line, but he’s still averaging just 40th in YPC, it suggests the offensive line wasn’t the issue. Pacheco’s lack of vision significantly hindered our run game and with a more equipped RB (or two) this offense has a real chance to dominate on the ground. The Chiefs’ run blocking wasn’t perfect, but it was significantly better than the public perception.
