@RedmondSurvivor Yeah, I think the big thing people skirt with this sort of analysis is the fact that no-one really knew what the show was when they applied for S1, so the casting was a bit less genre-savvy and more reacting to the situations authentically. Now they know it's a springboard.

The first series had way more shouting matches than the current series. Remember that asshat who made Aaron cry? This article feels like classic contrarianism.
