A war is raging in Europe, and Trump has said basically we won’t defend them. So they have to think about their own defense without the US, all while the US began military action without consulting them and is now demanding they send their already stretched defenses to Iran. Their reaction makes sense. Any 6th grader understands this.

It just tested a motor that makes those missiles bigger and more reliable. And nobody is launching Operation Epic Fury against Kim Jong Un. Why? Because North Korea already crossed the finish line. Once you have a working nuclear deterrent, the cost of attacking you becomes unacceptable. Iran was targeted precisely because it hadn't gotten there yet. MY DAILY LETTER - Iran is the new Vietnam: With Trump trapped in Iran in a nearly $2 billion-a-day war and Republicans unable to effectively defend their seats, the trajectory of the midterms is already clear.
Republicans are likely to lose the House of Representatives, potentially by nearly 40 seats, and could also lose two to three seats in the Senate.
The day after the November election, JD Vance may no longer be a viable option for Republicans in 2028. Many within the party will begin distancing themselves from Trump and Trump-aligned politics.
Democrats are expected to move forward with impeachment in the House, and some Republicans could join them in the Senate to convict—potentially reshaping the party’s future leadership around Vance or an alternative.
From this point forward, Trump’s position is unlikely to recover. The trajectory points toward continued decline, culminating in either removal or departure.
Like in Vietnam, Trump will seek victory in Iran, hoping that one last bold action, one last bombing, one last killing will rescue the situation but it will not, and without a clear and decisive victory, withdrawal with the same regime in power, will be seen as a failure and defeat. That is without accounting for the billions of dollars spent, the U.S. bases bombed and need to be rebuilt and service members wounded and killed. The trap is on but the military-industrial complex will not lose.
