Today I took part in the Ward 90 public meeting, alongside Councillor Chiloane, engaging residents directly on matters that affect their daily lives. The meeting addressed billing queries, the resurfacing of internal roads and key traffic alleviation interventions, such as the crucial bridge and off ramp for the ward. @CityTshwane

We have it on good authority that David Mandla Skosana is the alleged MP that contacted the complaint in the R2,2 million extortion and money laundering case against Mpumalanga taxi Boss, Joe Ferrari Sibanyoni and three co-accused. The MP reportedly called the businessman, urging him to drop the charges in exchange for a “handsome reward”as the National Prosecuting Authority prepared to reinstate the case.

48 illegal foreign nationals were intercepted at the Polokwane Traffic Control Centre after two minibuses travelling from Zimbabwe to Gauteng were stopped on the N1 bypass. Authorities found that only two of the 50 passengers had valid passports, while the remaining 48 were allegedly in the country illegally. They will be escorted to the Beitbridge Border for deportation. Both minibuses were impounded for allegedly breaching operating licence conditions. The Department of Transport and Community Safety says it will continue working with law enforcement agencies to protect commuters, enforce immigration laws and uphold road safety regulations.

300 registered. 1 showed up. 299 stayed behind. 🤯💔 Let that sink in. The Ghanaian government sent an entire evacuation flight to South Africa to rescue citizens facing so called "xenophobic" tensions. But when the doors opened at O.R. Tambo International Airport, exactly ONE person boarded. Where are the other 299? They chose to stay. And their choice speaks louder than any political speech ever could. This is a story of survival, not just a missed flight, that demands an honest look at the situation: 🚨 Survival Over Hunger : It is frustrating to see many foreign nationals, particularly those from Ghana, crying "xenophobia" when South Africans are simply demanding that law enforcement and immigration laws become the daily order. With South Africa’s economy remaining a "golden" destination—offering opportunities that home countries fail to provide—it’s clear why the pressure remains on us. Even with projected growth, the harsh reality is that many foreign nationals perceive their home economic environments as too hostile, choosing instead to risk staying in South Africa, banking on our tangible income opportunities over returning to poverty in Ghana. For the ~300 who stayed, it is a conscious gamble on tomorrow, gambling with the stability of our local communities. We are not xenophobic; we are desperate for order. Our nation is tired of being treated as a safety net while our own citizens struggle, simply because our government fails to protect our borders and enforce the rule of law. 🇿🇦 The "Golden" Mirage vs. Home Reality : Let’s be real. South Africa’s economy offers a lifeline that nations like Ghana—despite decades of independence and birthright to Pan-African giants like Kwame Nkrumah—have failed to build for their own people. Foreign nationals are heavily occupying our informal economy, a sector that most other African countries strictly reserve for their own citizens. Let’s be honest: is cutting hair or running a spaza shop a specialized skill? It is frustrating that while we share our limited space, some turn around and insult South Africans, labeling us as lazy. We understand that returning home to watch your family starve is a heavy fate, but degrading your hosts is not the answer. 🇬🇭 A Mirror of Failed Governance: This crisis is a massive wake-up call, especially for Ghana. We can decry xenophobia all we want—and indeed, any violence is abhorrent—but African leaders must be held accountable. Why have they failed to create nations where their youth can thrive? When citizens prefer to live under constant threat in a foreign land rather than return to their motherland, the home system is fundamentally broken. The gap between national pride and harsh reality is devastating. While a few chose immediate safety by repatriating, nearly 300 individuals chose to gamble on tomorrow in South Africa. They did this because their own leaders haven't given them a tomorrow to believe in at home. It is time for these governments to stop the rhetoric, stop relying on South Africa as a pressure-release valve, and fix the economic rot forcing their people to flee.

On the 29th of May 2026, we are thrilled to host the 4th Premier's Golf Day in Kathu, marking another milestone in our journey to fund students in tertiary education and training. Since 2023, we have been driving this annual event to mobilise funds for the Premier's Bursary Fund, which currently supports over 300 talented individuals from the Northern Cape pursuing careers in medicine, engineering, social work, teaching, law, technology, microbiology, pharmacy, ICT, agriculture, etc. Notably, last year the Bursary Fund contributed R1.5 million to Sol Plaatje University to help students with historical debt. Our golf day has yielded remarkable results since its inception: • R86 000 in 2023, • R3.2 million in 2024, • R6.3 million in 2025, • with a target of R10 million for 2026. We invite visionary business leaders to join us in shaping the future of our youth, inspired by Hada Bejar's words, 'The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose'. Together, let's unlock a brighter future through generosity and collective action.

Werner Pierre de Bruin (33), was shot and killed in the early hours of 20 August 2020 during a vicious attack on a smallholding in Mooiplaats, Boschkop (east of Pretoria, Gauteng). Werner, his partner Charlotte Freeman (46), their 3-year-old son, and her 8-year-old grandson were in their two-bedroom house on the property (owned by vet Dr Ockert Botha, for whom they both worked). Around 01:30, three armed attackers tried to break in. Werner heroically fought back, slamming the security gate (Trellidor) shut, struggling, and even kicking to keep them out, buying precious time for his family. He was shot through a window, staggered to the children's room, and collapsed, dying minutes later. The attackers entered, stole only two cellphones (ignoring wallets, a laptop, and a motorcycle outside), and fled when a neighbour (a police officer Charlotte had called) arrived. Charlotte and the children survived, deeply traumatised. The older boy even tried to shield the toddler. No arrests reported at the time. He died protecting his family, a true hero in a country where White South Africans face relentless violence.
