@FrankFWJH Bakerloo. Because they have the oldest stock and not enough trains to run a frequent service throughout the day.

Londoners - was watching a vid yesterday which was talking about a poll putting central line as the worst tube line but it was a couple years old, what do you guys reckon the worst is?

@thomasbowell Except NS has two livery’s, one for sprinter (local) and one for intercity that distinction should be made. Also GBR livery isn’t iconic it’s bad and they need to go back to the drawing board.

I don’t understand this - the Dutch have a single livery for their trains and an iconic identity. Of course, there’ll still be local trains - Overground, Elizabeth Line, Merseyrail and maybe Bee Network in future with their own identities. I think a single GBR brand makes sense!

I really hate the implication that all trains in England, whether inter-city, regional or local, will all have the same top-down imposed livery. Where's the space for local identity? For experimentation?

Hey all it's been quite a while. I have moved out of London to somewhere new. And I'm currently back at university studying an entirely new degree. I might post again once I'm not rushed off my feet. Also here's a photo of the new DLR B23 stock I took a while back.

@greateranglia you might want to update your passenger information displays are broken on 5 car 720s between Ponders End and Enfield lock. They are telling passengers to move back 3 coaches on a 5 coach train even though the platforms can fit a 5 coach train.

@PacerClara I think part of the reason is there is rolling stock in Europe that are capable of Regional, local service. (Dostos, N-Wagen, Corail etc) and the closest we had was the MK1 or 2s. The other reason is the infrastructure to have flexible coach consists hasn’t existed since the 80s.

Right I have an entirely unresearched theory that may be completely wrong but I want to put it out there and you can yell at me if you want. Loco hauled passenger trains are now pretty rare in the UK, but are seemingly still *somewhat* common in mainland Europe. [1/]

@GwVillager @seatsixtyone Apparently they are going to be using Class 3000 to supplement the enterprise service

@seatsixtyone Where are they getting the trains from? Are they just using the modified multiple units?

There are also the buses that are soon entering service. They look so much better.

For comparison's sake here are some of the newer buses in London. They look nice, modern and unique. Thanks to Samuel Letsu for letting me use his images @N07/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">flickr.com/photos/1657275…

The double decks look awful but the single decks are even worse. I understand the reasoning behind the design is because BYD prefers to make something that would fit in that chosen market. But did no one look at the 3d renders and think "Yes this looks good"

Photos of the new BYD BD11 double-deck electric buses for London without a glazed staircase, including a white and red for the Superloop services, as well as a B12 single-deck electric bus manufactured in Hangzhou, China. Posted by Hangzhou Bus News on Weibo.

@SouthEastRailGp Yeah tbh I don’t think there’s not many other options with using the existing infrastructure. I think were are going to hit a limit where it’s almost impossible to run more trains. I guess one option would be make the treasury sweat by bringing up the prospect of Crossrail 2 & 3.

@mmmOnyon 10 cars yes but Hex is a premium service hence almost everyone decanting to the EL. In any case some of the slots may be required for increasing EL and GWR services. Hex or not pax numbers are increasing faster that even the most optimistic predictions.

1/2. The Elizabeth line has 10 more trains on order. But that plus extending a few more of the Paddington reverses to OOC isn’t going to help the problem of rapidly increasing traffic from LHR to Luton/Gatwick via Farringdon and Stansted via Liverpool Street.

@SouthEastRailGp Honestly it comes to replace the current Heathrow Express with a fast service to Heathrow using the current Heathrow express slots and increasing existing crossrail stock to 10 cars.

2/2. Then we also need to factor in increasing patronage for Southend Airport and the expansion of London City. But also the ever growing non-airport local patronage between Abbey Wood/Stratford and Ealing Broadway. Answers on a postcard please!!!

Just to add this. This whole consultation is complete utter farce. You don’t need this when there’s plenty of reports from the NHS Staff, from the multiple parliamentary inquiries from the past 15 years. This government is a massive joke

@Jan__Sommer Yeah I was thinking about that. But a Juhachi Kippu wouldnt have worked in my case unless I made this trip even longer.

@mmmOnyon If I ever go there, I am absolutely buying a JR railpass for a certain amount of time, and will then probably try to get around with a juuhachi Kippur as much as possible

Next year, I will be going to Japan, and I have come up with an audacious plan to travel on as many trains as possible within a two-week period. I don't think I will be able to finalise my plan till April. But here's what I've come up with so far
