Tonight I was told by my daughters “it’s just a game, you’re not even there”. No ma’am. It’s not just a game. Not to me. Not to many, if not most, Ags. I have spent way too any years being disappointed and heartbroken over @AggieFootball. I was there when we lost 77-0 to OU. I got to shake George HW’s hand on Kyle Field. I’ve stormed the field as a fish. I got written about (but not named) in a New Mexican paper when my fish buddies and I showed some New Mexico State Aggie fans our Yells. I survived the Sumlin years. The Jimbo years. The Fran years. The RC “forward lateral” Slocum years. I watched arguably our best shot at a natty go up in smoke when Johnny Football started acting like a damned fool. Being an #Aggie is part of who I am as much as being a dad or being a Marine is a part of me. It took me 22 years to earn my Aggie Ring. Earned, not given. But - and I pray I don’t have to regret this later this season - but, I am excited for this year. I can’t wait. I can’t wait to go to Death Valley and watch my Ags BTHOLSU in my adoptive home state. I can’t wait to see my Ags put a whoopin on tu the likes of which they won’t want to play us anymore. I can’t wait for my Ags to be in the Playoffs. I can’t wait for every sports pundit not named @PatMcAfeeShow to FINALLY give us our credit. You’ve been the only one, and for that, you are loved in Aggieland, Pat. I love A&M. I’m excited for this year. I’m excited to see what @CoachMikeElko has in store for us (maybe some more chair throws, Coach???). Good God, man. Sips are the worst. Yes, getting swept (with the second game being an absolute blow out) does - well, should, but @d1baseball doesn’t know ball - matter. Records matter, and A&M and UGA have better overall AND conference records - the second one matters most because the SEC is inarguably the hardest conference in basically every single sport. Also, it would’ve been three games lost at Blue Bell, but the rain saved y’all.

I think I agree with 95% of what you post. This is one of those 5%, though. If I was honored enough to have my number retired by my college (or pro) team, I definitely wouldn’t want my kid to have it. That’s MY number. I want my kids to be their own. Though I can see where you’re coming from, like with a family of cops, sometimes a child will take their parent’s or grandparent’s badge number, especially if the parent or grand died in the line. It’s considered an honor. Like I said, I can see both sides, but I’m inclined to lean more towards wanting my kids to have their own life and not be overshadowed by my life and my accomplishments.

This last year, I’ll give you. It was a shite game from our end. But 2024 - we were objectively robbed from that game. The only touchdowns tu “scored” were overturned on-the-field calls that were correctly called on the field. A&M won that game, but the SEC officials made us lose. This isn’t bitching, this is fact, and anyone who believes otherwise is blind and doesn’t know ball.

To be clear- I think Kyle Field is a great environment and a difficult, loud place to play. But statistically there hasn't been an absurd 'advantage' of late, 2-3 in Elko's tenure v ranked opponents. But as @billyliucci has said - great teams can overcome great environments 😉

The terminology you’re looking for is “direct sequel”. HP Deathly Hallows pt 1 and 2, Dune pt 1 and 2, Avengers Infinity Wars and Endgame, Rocky 1 and 2, and James Bond’s Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are considered direct sequels, as the next movie starts where the first ends and directly continues/finishes the story. It’s a nuance, but it’s the correct nomenclature.
