Andrew Ochieng’ could not find Luo books to teach his daughter the language so he wrote them “Wapuonjre Dholuo.” So proud of him for doing this for the culture. Inyalo nyiewo ka in Kenya kata loka. Nyithindi ong’eyo Dholuo?

@Dr_AustinOmondi Raila made Mbadi yes, but also hundreds of the likes of Mbadi made Raila. Without contributions of many loyal Kenyans who stood with Raila, he would have remained an ordinary politician. Back to Mbadi's point, Raila is no more, and thats the truth!

Mbadi must charter his own path minus Raila. Did he help Raila? Yes. But Raila helped him more. Switch Mbadi with any villager with an education and they would remain loyal to Raila because he was the political golden child. Arguing with his daughter, sister and wife on political podiums every chance you get is being that uncle who bullies the family when his brother dies.

The opposition has not exhibited the level of planning, discipline, and focus required to win presidential elections. To win in 2022,Ruto planned. He did not depend entirely on votes. He had all the relevant sectors under lock and key. He had finance - Kamau Thugge, who made World Bank and Ruto acquaintances. He had the security sector - All of them are heads of Key security institution from Noordin Haji to Gabbow to DCI Amin. Ruto planned and schemes in detail. I do not see that level of preparedness in the opposition. If you think you had the people, Raila had more than you will ever have. Revolutionaries rarely rise to power. It is those with the ability to put the matter to an end who takes power.

Tribal bigotry and ethnic chauvinism disguised as “good governance” must be rejected. Between Moi and Ruto, were there no other Presidents unless they came from the “preferred tribe”? @MarthaKarua your selective outrage, double standards and ethnic profiling have no place in Kenya.

@davidjesse_ I agree! The Kenyan electorate is terribly ethnicised! The Luo championing democracy hoping that the rest will do the same is what kept them in opposition for 60 yrs. Even though this has improved the national democratic space, it has been at the expense of dev't for the region.

James Orengo knows very well that if ODM today fully aligned itself with Linda Mwananchi, Rigathi Gachagua and his camp would immediately drift back toward William Ruto. Because their discomfort with Ruto is not premised on any ideological difference but the vendetta that Ruto embraced the outsiders- read Luos. Orengo also understands the Luo pursuit of power through-the-trenches has repeatedly failed. It failed with Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, who despite his central role in the independence struggle was isolated and demonized by the post-colonial state. It also failed with Raila Odinga, who spent decades building a reform movement, enduring detention, torture, political betrayals, and multiple disputed elections, yet still could not overcome the entrenched ethnic arithmetic of Kenyan politics. It then baffles me why Orengo would insist on sustaining a purist opposition movement. The pragmatic Luo permutation to power is making strategic compromises to keep ODM politically relevant within the state structure.
James Orengo@orengo_james

The overwhelming support we encounter in every corner of this nation fuels our resolve. As the Linda Mwananchi Movement, we remain committed to building nationwide alliances as we approach the next general election. Our community’s interests must be championed by our own, not by outsiders. We demand that the ODM Party "auctioneers" return whatever proceeds they received from Ruto; the people are now wide awake, and I personally guarantee that ODM is under safe custody as the Party Leader. Today in Gem, Siaya County, I honored the life of Mama Margaret Achieng' Awuor. It was a privilege to stand in solidarity with my dear friend, Mzee Vitalis Awuor Mbade ( Nice To See You ), as we bid her farewell.

A tree that forgets its roots will not stand the wind; so too a society that forgets its elders will not stand the storms of change. Paid a courtesy visit to Ker Odungi Randa, Chairperson of the Luo Council of Elders, at his home in Boya, Nyando Constituency, Kisumu County, where we discussed the important role of community leadership and traditional structures in promoting peace, cohesion and grassroots security and development initiatives.

Under a Hickory tree somewhere near the equator, Rev. James Jamieson Willis of the Church Missionary Society (CMS) gathered his first learners and pointed upward. "Which tree is this?" he asked. They answered, "Ma Oseno." This is Oseno. Luo word for the Hickory tree. "Ma'seno?" he repeated. Reshaping it as it crossed his tongue. And in that small moment of translation; half question, half mistake, Maseno was born. That was 120 years ago. Joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto during the 120th anniversary celebrations of Maseno School held at the institution's grounds. The colourful event brought together students, staff and key stakeholders to honour the school's enduring legacy and its long-standing contribution to our education sector.

I have been up North this weekend as it is a bank holiday weekend in the UK. Some of you will remember my tweets when I went to Birmingham a few months ago. This time I was further North. Just want to say a few comments:- - The people up North are 300 times more friendly than people down south. I was constantly taken aback by it. - I saw so much wealth up North (I did in Solihull too). I saw endless electric cars - Teslas, Nissans, Volvos - people seemed well dressed and awash with cash. I have never seen so many electic cars down south. It was astonishing what is happening up there. - Coffee in cafes/restaurants are the same price as down south. It is not cheaper. - Quality of life seems better up North. - I had an amazing time. It is so important to get out of London and the south east and explore the UK every few months. There is so much more to Britain than London and it is the rest of Britain that decides general elections, not London. This is something many newcomers here don't realise. - The news in the UK is still completely focused on London and south east and nothing resonates with you when you go up North. They all seem in a bubble, especially politicians in Westminster. - The North seems like a great place to live and I highly recommend it. Young people should consider it for jobs and opportunities. I had such a refreshing break! Is anyone reading this up North?

Kaunda suits were informed by Ruto's plan to dupe the whole African continent that he is a Pan Africanist, yet his real objective was to catch the attention of the U.S.A. Ruto traversed the continent, preaching against the dollar donning Kaunda suits. He was so vocal that the idea of one African currency seemed plausible. But all along Ruto wanted to armtwist the USA, President Biden fell for this and invited Ruto to a state dinner in his honour at the Whitehouse. Ruto left with Kenya being the major USA non Nato ally in the region. He signed multi-billion dollar deals. After that, he threw away the Kaunda because the mission was accomplished. Chesaaa.
