@Jason yes, but the benefit of a good article or bad article then gets shared on social and boosted far about those numbers. and a hit piece, can be turned into attention to tell your own story, amplifying reach further.

NYT shaken by my advice to founders to never talk to their journalists.
The truth is, no one trusts the media, and it's their own fault.
Too many anonymous sources, too many hit pieces and far too much bias.
The NYT isn't taken seriously, except by the far left -- and they're even losing them of late!
For leaders wondering whether to go direct, understand that the average NYT story gets 100-400k views. A breakout might do a couple of million.
In other words, the average NYT story is irrelevant when compared to the number of followers and listeners a founder can reach directly.

The world is splitting between people who engage with reality to build the future and professional outrage artists spinning fantasy in the name of “accountability.” Wired has cast its lot with the latter.
Wired talked to 37 people (including trying to talk to one employee's mother!) and discovered some Pultizer-winning stuff: defense manufacturing is hard, Grimm didn't like his lunch, and that we hold our people to the highest standards. Truly groundbreaking.
After I suggested someone should buy them last month, this reads less like journalism and more like a petty grudge. An increasingly irrelevant tech publication put us in their burn book. Newsflash @Wired: this changes nothing about what the Pentagon needs or what our adversaries fear.
What this half-reported screed can't capture (because it wouldn't know how and didn't take us up on our offers to help) is where we actually are: scaling faster than anyone in this industry, fixing problems as we find them, and building things this country hasn't built in generations.
Don't like it? Don't Work at Anduril.

@Jason @tab_delete you can be a staunch capitalist and still criticize tech leader's bullshit. I know you're loyal to your friends but people like Alex Karp, Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Mark Zuckerberg deserve checks and balances. Otherwise we'd all sycophantic bootlickers on their quest for power.

“Don’t engage with the media” is an inherently silly take. Journalism is an essential public interest.

@tab_delete Biased journalism, as the NYT, FOX News and WIRED practice it, is the opposite of a public interest -- it's a selfish money grab.
By picking a side and giving up objectivity, you get more page views and that pathetic trickle of subs you're trumpeting.
