Exclusive look at the opening-title sequence from Brady Corbet's ‘THE BRUTALIST’
Featuring music from Oscar-nominated composer Daniel Blumberg & cinematographer Lol Crawley.
Now in theaters.
It is no exaggeration to call The Brutalist a monumental cinematic achievement. The construction of this film is simply astounding, I still can’t wrap my head around how it was made.
It may be seen as a film of 2 halves. But in reality, it is 2 sides of the same coin in the form of the country. The illusion of the American Dream where the land of opportunity arises, a place where immigrants seek for a 2nd chance. Only for the mask to be unveiled, showing the ugliness of America as its rose tinted lens shatters through capitalism and greed. The overture forebodes this truth as the Statue of Liberty inverses. A dream soon becomes a nightmare.
The 2nd half is just as good as the first. It may not be for everyone but it takes a darker turn that really challenges your perception of a grand epic with an intimate vision. Adrien Brody, Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones all give some of the best performances this year and deserve all the praise but it’s Brady Corbet’s singular vision that transforms a tale as old as time into a timeless story for the ages. Daniel Blumberg’s score is etched into my mind.

Dominic Thiem will be so sorely missed on the tour.
At a time when people were bemoaning the next generation of players and asking when a younger guy would step up, he did it.
He ended the wait for a new GS champ. He beat all of the Big Three on the big stages multiple times.
