#UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres met today with @_AfricanUnion Chairperson H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. They discussed the strong cooperation between the @UN and the #AU in addressing peace, security & dev't challenges in #Africa as well as the promotion of human rights.

On the sidelines of the #AUSummit2026 , Executive Secretary @claverGatete met William D. Magwood, Director-General of the @OECD_NEA, to discuss nuclear energy as a catalyst for industrial growth, job creation & energy stability in Africa and a potential cooperation with ECA.

The exchange underscored the importance of aligning energy development with climate resilience and industrialization objectives to ensure long-term, inclusive growth that delivers tangible benefits to communities across Mozambique.

The partnership will focus on strengthening intra-African food trade under the AfCFTA, expanding access to finance, and unlocking jobs for Africa’s youth across agricultural value chains.

On the margins of #AUSummit39, ES @claverGatete held excellent discussions with @AGRA_Africa President Alice Ruhweza, agreeing to deepen collaboration on data-driven analysis to accelerate Africa’s food systems transformation.

These efforts aim to reinforce Botswana’s economic resilience and regional leadership, delivering tangible development outcomes while positioning the country as a competitive financial hub and a model for public.

Discussions focused on fast-tracking project delivery, expanding strategic value chains such as leather, and leveraging digital systems to strengthen productivity, competitiveness, and economic growth.

On the margins of #AUSummit39, Executive Secretary @claverGatete met H.E. President @duma_boko to advance a results-driven partnership with Botswana and to update him on the progress of ongoing initiatives agreed between ECA and the Government. sector reform in Africa.

ES @claverGatete congratulated @GeorgeElombi on his appointment as the new President. The two institutions will strengthen collaboration on #GFA reform, debt management, IFFs, financing development, #healthfinancing narrative and a strengthened African Financial Architecture.

ES @claverGatete held fruitful discussions with @Afreximbank President H.E @GeorgeElombi on the margins of the #AUSummit. Discussions focused on a strengthened ECA-Afreximbank partnership for targetted research, #RVCs industrialisation and capacities, for the benefit of citizens.

At #AUSummit39, ES @claverGatete & H.E. President Daniel Francisco Chapo discussed strengthening Mozambique’s economic resilience through integrated energy solutions, responsible natural resource governance, tourism diversification & deeper regional trade under the AfCFTA.

They further committed to strengthening the Joint Secretariat Support Office as a strategic platform for harmonized planning among @_AfricanUnion, @ECA_Official, and @AfDBGroup in service of Africa’s transformation agenda.

Both institutions agreed to intensify joint analytical work toward advancing a New African Financial Architecture, accelerating industrialization and regional value chains, and reinforcing implementation of the DRC–Zambia BEV value chain initiative, among other priorities.

At the #AUSummit ES @claverGatete & @AfDBPresident Dr. Sidi Ould Tah held productive discussions on deepening collab to support countries in strengthening DRM, improving debt sustainability, tackling illicit financial flows, addressing risk perceptions & sovereign credit ratings.
