If you believe intelligence is the primary driver of innovation… and invention + scale are the primary drivers of wealth creation… then if you believe we are are about to scale near infinite intelligence you should also believe that the next few years will result in the largest opportunity for wealth creation in humanities history. All it will take is one model to invent one thing that is positive sum and the narrative will completely shift. Thats why Demis keeps trying to center the conversation around AlphaFold and why Dario probably gets spanked by his non-existent head of comms every time he goes on a podcast. Unfortunately most humans seem incapable of imagining and so default to the obvious dystopian elements of efficiency driven job destruction but need to be shown tangible new creations before giving the new opportunities any credit. It’s also why if there was one piece of advice to give beyond actually playing with the most recent models it’s to read more sci-fi. And it doesn’t have to be Culture or Accelerando. Start with enjoyable reads like Red Rising. The goal is to train your mind to break free of what is and instead be able to simulate what could be.
