@Franky12Step @EvaLovesDesign That's not Athens though, and you also don't have to be rich to get a better place to stay in Athens then going to the rundown parts.
English

@huckleberrydan @peterrhague The Cyclop is literally a part of the actual story.
English

@peterrhague But you’re cool with the cyclops and a chick who can turn you into stone?
English

@cobham_fan @sacraamarte Gods helping Odysseus is actually a big point of the story.
English

@sacraamarte Do you think every line they say has to sum up the story?
English

that's not the point of the story at all
DiscussingFilm@DiscussingFilm
Matt Damon as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan's ‘THE ODYSSEY’. “No one can stand between me and home - not even the Gods.”
English

@ALGAR1N @DiscussingFilm This is one of the best modern translation there is.

@BanterLLC @aip551 France probably still safer than Idaho or any other place in the USA.
English

@bruceleehitler @Aris_Utensil 1 in 10 bakeries in the US are "proper bakeries", 7 out of 10 in Europe.
English

@Aris_Utensil Europoors love comparing their best to Americas worst
Yeah man the French bakery is gonna be better than the 50 cent hostess cake but a proper US bakery is gonna clear
You guys do the same shit with chocolate and its disingenuous because you're coping with your nation's decline
English

Europe's food is significantly better than Americas, and it's not even close. Americas idea of confectionary barely qualifies as edible.
Reddit Lies@reddit_lies
Every time I see a European call American bread “cake” it just makes me think how shitty European cake must be.
English

@McRibfan69 @Aris_Utensil Imagine thinking Greek or Italian food is just as good in NYC as it is in Greece, Italy, etc.
English

@Aris_Utensil Listen, if we're talking about Omaha Nebreska, then yes. but im sorry, NYC has any food, from any corner of the world, JUST as good.
English

@emperor_kane @Aris_Utensil Imagine thinking pizza in the USA is better than in Italy.
English

That depends on where you eat. I agree that European cuisine is far better than any American chain restaurant. However, the majority of local American cuisines are significantly better than European foods.
For example, authentic American pizza (and I don't mean pizza made by a chain restaurant like Pizza Hut or Domino's. I mean pizz you get at mom and pop shops). It is far better than pizza in Italy.
English

@noturtlesoup17 @wma927 Most Europeans visiting the USA for the world cup will have plenty experience travelling to humid cities in Europe. Do you think most Europeans flying to the USA will travel for the first time ever?
English

@wma927 This might surprise you, but Europe is actually a much bigger place than the couple of hot and humid cities that do exist. Everyone from Milan will do just great. The rest of Europe is largely fucked.
English

I think a lot of European soccer fans are going to be learning about humidity for the very first time this summer.
tom 🎸@uncreativetom
...?? is that hard for you??
English

@_CM_67_ We like cars. It gives us individual autonomy and freedom that Europeans can’t even imagine.
I can literally get in my car on a whim and drive 1,000 miles in any direction. No train schedules. No pre-planning. No one holding me back.
English

Americans not understanding that in this scenario you wouldn’t need a car park the size of Andorra
joe@BurdenBurner
The brits are right. Instead of building a stadium 9 miles* from Manhattan* we could’ve just chucked the whole meadowlands complex in Central Park!

English

@fallrise__ This is a clip from Florida. And she is clearly American. This ain*t Europe.

Homer doesn’t describe Helen as “blonde” in The Iliad lol
Alexander 𖤓 Nietzschean Vitalist@UbermenschMind
“Helen of Troy looked “Greek” and was brown” Helen of Troy was described as 'fair-skinned and blonde' in Homer's Illiad btw… Also Ancient Greks didn’t look like modern ones.
English

@ammerle @thymele33x what do you even mean by racial description? She's Greek
English
@Jim5155 @thymele33x Fair skin as in not darkened by the sun, meaning she didn't have to work outdoors. It's more of a class marker than a racial description.
English

@thymele33x he doesn't describe her at all. the point was that the reader was supposed to project whatever their ideal of beauty was onto her
