We are clear: PA students do not study medicine, PAs are not medically trained, PAs are not medical professionals. We have approached the GMC to clarify its position.

Thank you @iDrSunny for asking @gmcuk this question & sharing their response. This couldn't be a plainer comprise of standards, @wesstreeting. PAs do not study medicine & the GMC is deliberately misleading NHS patients - who deserve excellence, not cut-price care. Please act.

Wow. This beggars belief. @gmcuk says that PAs study Medicine. Forget the 5 years of study, the (rightly) rigorous standards, the postgrad training, all the slog & complexity. Just a 2-year course with a 100% pass rate. What a disgusting erosion of professional standards.

Really interesting email being sent out today at St George’s Medical school to final year students Concerns have been raised by medical students around placements and medical students being treated as second rate students to PAs, how their teaching is suffering being taught by PAs rather than doctors, they witness unsafe practice by PAs and are being gaslit. But the big one: the justification given around PA pay and why that is higher than a highly skilled doctor and they are pushing the false narrative of equivalence. @StGeorgesUni should be absolutely embarrassed. If I was one of their final year medical students I would be boycotting the graduation
