Building a community and aligning your members is just the first step, identifying your loyal advocates which is somewhat akin to the thousand true fans model is also paramount. The lifespan of an @arcthecommunity member starts as a lurker -> member -> active member -> contributor -> loyal advocate. This month we hit a new high of almost 25% active contributors in ARC. Last week, we here @a16z gave our predictions on big ideas for 2024. For me, I'm doubling down on anime. Anime has quickly become one of the highest grossing genres of games by ARPU. In 2022, Mihoyo grossed over $3.8 billion from Genshin and Mihoyo.

Just like how there are only a few dominant offline communities with existing brand value that is so desirable- the same will happen with digital communities where many will spawn but only a few will take the crown in the short to mid term. And my bet is that they will not only be paid, but because they are paid, only the purpose and value driven communities will flourish, not the interest based ones that have dominated in web2. When we first came up with the concept of ARC 4-5 years ago as a generic web2 idea, we spotted a gap in the market where despite that we are all heading into a new era of digitalisation and connectivity, there still wasn’t a thriving digital first community that we or any of our peers wanted to be a part of. There needed to be something better, something fresh, something cool, something that creates value and distributes that value more equitably across all members, and more importantly, something that people want to be a part of, something that creates a sense of community or rather a sense of belonging in its members. Fast forward to today, having garnered slightly under 30k total applications and after a year of tedious community and brand building. ARC spans a little over 500 of the active builders and investors at the forefront of both web3 and web2 all into one small but mighty and harmonious community. Some call us Asia’s if not one of the world’s dominant web3 collectives, but I would love to dream a little bigger…. The world’s most dominant digital first community…. one that utilises blockchain technology to realise our community goals, one that reaps value to both the collective but also more importantly to its members. It's uplifting to witness the evolution of community narratives globally. This shift isn't just limited to individuals; major web2 corporations, financial institutions, venture capitalists, and others are now actively exploring the realm of community building. Equally thrilling is the anticipation of the journey ahead for @arcthecommunity, as we navigate this relatively unchartered and dynamic landscape. We are going to change the entire game in how communities are managed, and how communities are being monetised. The world isn’t ready, I can feel it.
