“South Africans have killed some Ghanaians, Nigerians, Zambians, and other African nationals in xenophobic attacks. I was a nurse in Ghana, but I switched to hairdressing in South Africa because I did not have a work permit. Sometimes, you have to carry bottles or knives to defend yourself because of the crime and ongoing xenophobic attacks.” — Esther, a Ghanaian woman who arrived in Ghana on a government-chartered repatriation flight, shares her ordeal in South Africa and why she decided to return home to restart her life

The Border Management Authority SA
[NEWS ON THE BORDERS!!!] The Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Michael Masiapato has confirmed that the BMA has successfully processed 300 Ghanaians from South Africa to Ghana at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday. Out of the 300, 25 of them came from Lindela holding facility and were brought by the Immigration Inspectorate of the Department of Home Affairs. Further, 275 were brought by the Ghanaian High Commissioner. Following an intense check-in process, the travelers proceeded to BMA immigration wherein about 90% of them were found to be undocumented and the Ghanaian Embassy had to issue them with Emergency Travel Certificates (this is a one-way single-page document which allows a traveller to return to their country of origin). Most of the travelers were found to have overstayed with more than 30 days whilst some overstayed by a year or more. As a result; they were declared undesirable in terms of Sec 30 of the Immigration Act, read regulations 27(3)(c) of the Immigration Regulations.

INTERPOL SA TRACES AND ARRESTS USA FATHER WANTED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT OF MINOR A 56-year-old wanted fugitive was arrested on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, at his home in Kabega Park, Gqeberha for the alleged sexual abuse of his daughter. The suspect, a USA citizen, is wanted by INTERPOL on charges of rape and sexual assault reported by the victim’s mother to the San Antonio Police Department in 2017. According to a report, the suspect allegedly raped his daughter and shared explicit text messages with her over a period; the victim was 12 years old at the time. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspect had fled the United States of America and was later traced to Eastern Cape, South Africa. INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Pretoria traced the suspect and executed a Section 5(1)(b) warrant upon receipt of the USA’s extradition request with support from the Nelson Mandela Bay District Intervention Task Team, Crime Combating Unit, and Mount Road Crime Intelligence. The suspect is expected to appear before the Gqeberha Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 29 May 2026, facing an extradition application by the government of the United States of America to the Republic of South Africa.

You guys want people in townships to march against property prices in Cape Town? 😂✋🏾
Lebogang mogashane@LeboMogashane

@_ThembekileT They won’t because when you being afrophobic, you are more likely to punch down then to punch up. It’s easier to attack people in your community than the people outside of your community actually creating the problems😒

The Border Management Authority has just achieved what is likely the single biggest breakthrough against the drug trade in South African history, by intercepting a consignment at Beitbridge valued at nearly R1 billion. (You read that right). Yesterday, an intelligence-driven operation coordinated out of our National Targeting Centre identified a truck travelling through Zimbabwe to Beitbridge. Upon arrival, the BMA was ready and waiting for it. The truck was intercepted and examined through the sophisticated truck scanner on site, with a hidden compartment discovered. Working over 8 hours, the BMA patiently dismantled the truck until a substance was discovered that was confirmed to be methaqualone, also known as ABBA, commonly used in the manufacture of mandrax. The Hawks and K9 units were called in, with 713 000 grams of the substance seized at an estimated value of R998 200 000. Just under R1 billion. Three Malawian suspects were arrested and taken to the Musina Police Station, with the Hawks to conduct further investigations. This historic breakthrough in the fight against smuggling and drugs vividly demonstrates that the combination of intelligence-led investigations, digital transformation, and the commitment of the BMA is systematically rebuilding the rule of law at our borders! 🇿🇦

It continues to bother me how government often waits until people resort to extremes, shutdowns or even violence before it responds or addresses issues . Communities write letters, submit memorandums, attend consultations, raise concerns through lawful channels and are met with silence, bureaucracy or indifference. Citizens are effectively blueticked by the state they fund through their taxes. Then suddenly, once roads are burning, tyres are lit and cameras arrive, there is urgency, task teams and political visibility. It creates a dangerous lesson in society that says calm, reasoned engagement achieves very little, while chaos gets attention. The only explanation for this behaviour is a growing culture of leadership that has become detached from the daily realities of ordinary people. A government that genuinely cares about its citizenry would not need to be cornered into listening. Responsiveness should not be activated by fear of embarrassment or instability. It should be the basic duty of public service.

Home Affairs says 30 of the 300 Ghanaians flying out of SA today were held at the Lindela detention centre. Head of Immigration and Law Enforcement, Stephen van Neel says that when verifying those to be repatriated, they found few of them had the documents. Watch: tinyurl.com/32dwjmns
