My wife took this beautiful photo of a lamb asleep on a tomb in the ancient churchyard of Arbory Church, Ballabeg, Isle of Man. The sheep are there for to keep the grass and weeds down where machines might cause damage. Love my churches. They are so special!

It is announced today that I am to be the next Rector of Liverpool, moving from the Cathedral, where I've loved singing as Precentor with @LivCathChoir, to @LiverpoolParish this summer, serving the city, its maritime life, by offering the salvation that is in Christ. Pray for us.

On St Patrick’s Eve it was good to be at St Patrick’s Church, Jurby. From there we could see both Scotland and Ireland. Many sites on the IoM have connections with Patrick (Noo Perick in Manx). It’s claimed he first landed at Jurby Head, though Peel and Rushen assert the same!

So grateful for the welcome and generous gift of time and insights into Manx farming given to us today at Moorhouse Farm

Wonderful visit to Dalby church with their community woodland and tree nursery patch. Faith in action, bringing people together in worship, meditation and prayer gatherings, through meals, film nights, an honesty-box community shop and conversations over the Sunday papers.

@ajmmckay (2) I am in discussion with another potter about her very kind offer to perhaps use her studio from time to time and to fire work there - hurrah!

Out and about. Brilliant visit with a great Manx ceramicist followed by an unexpected chat with members of the Islands search and rescue team who were on manoeuvres.

@ajmmckay There is a lovely group at the local college but the hours are sadly limited - 2 hours a week and only between October to February (though we have a 4 week extension to end of March). As the sessions are fixed times I have had to miss at least 1/3 of them due to work commitments

To serve in public life can be a daunting and challenging, as well as a rewarding, calling. Grateful for those who seek to offer their experience and skills for our common life. Tonight I’m praying for the candidates for election to the Legislative Council of Tynwald tomorrow.

I'm horrified by the brutal massacre of 70 Christians in their church in DRC. This is pure evil. I ask Christians everywhere to pray for the church in Lumbero & for vulnerable civilians in DRC where armed groups are operating. Govts at all levels must address this violence.

Cathedral Isle of Man is such a wonderful setting for this fabulous artwork. Thanks to everyone who has made it possible, and to everyone who came this evening for the session on ‘Walking in the Dark towards the Light’. Lots more to come in the programme!

Today marks Contemporary Martyrs Day in the Coptic Orthodox Church, and the 10th Anniversary of #The21 #LibyaMartyrs, a day of solemn remembrance while at the same time being a moment of recognition of their incredible strength, resilience, grace and witness, as well as their families’ remarkable ability to graciously forgive. All in all, and somewhat ironically and counterintuitively, an occasion for thanksgiving and celebration. We give thanks for their powerful witness and the encouragement that they have given to the whole world…the world that they changed on that day, on the beach, in those distinctive orange suits. They have become icons in the most selfless and impactful way. On this important day we pray repose for our Martyrs, continuing comfort for their families, loved ones and communities, forgiveness for those who contributed to the taking of their lives in every way, and God’s peace upon His world, that this inhumanity may never be repeated. Remember their names. Remember their faces. Remember their story.
