The TV station that we watch does a lot of sponsored segments about the UAE. Whenever they come on, my wife is in constant fear that I'll talk about having a party there because I'd love an Abu Dhabi do. Thanks @specutainment for introducing me to one of my favourite jokes.

To me, we're already approaching the point where they'll pull a "you asked and we listened, can we have a cookie now?" thing on image alt tags. And it's like: no. It's almost 2023. Basic 2.1 AA Accessibility should be your fucking default now.

A general reminder that Post doesn't support adding alt tags on images and seems to show no desire to do so. I have an account parked on it, but that kind of stuff is a low-level warning flag to me of how seriously they're likely to take stuff that matters in future.

An iOS Mastodon client that can reliably remember where I'm at in the timeline across devices, use absolute instead of relative time stamps, tell me how many unread posts I have, allow me to not animate any graphics by default, and open links in Safari. Is that too much to ask?

That's the thing, they're *my* rules, for how I live, not for anybody else. They're not based on morality, I just need to keep my synapses clear for writing. I've never really thought about keeping an inventory but I think it might be boorish not to at least try to accommodate.
