In 2016 while MinAF I investigated patterns of behaviour by Leigh Day and PIL who I suspected of bringing hundreds of knowingly false cases against members of our Armed Forces to the investigation team. We were suspicious that some were fishing expeditions, some deliberate fabrications, some invented to get the 4 hours of legal aid payments per case. The resulting dossier was passed to the SRA to investigate, which they did, resulting in action being taken against “Phil”. At the time I described these actions as a "shameless and shoddy racket" "parasitic" "motivated by malice and money". Today on St George's Day, the Telegraph reported that the Attorney General, in private, gave advice on bogus allegations against British veterans. He should recuse himself from giving advice on such matters, but especially on the Troubles Bill which as it stands at the moment at least, will victimise even more British soldiers. I asked the Leader of the House if we can have a debate on the misuse of such government legal advice:
