Friends, I’ve been on Twitter for 14 years and generally I have enjoyed it. The situation with the new owner and the new random rules has drained all of the goodness away for me. I’m stepping away from Twitter for while. Perhaps I’ll be back at some point.

@elonmusk It’s public information. This is not “doxxing”. Fly commercial if it’s not working for you.

@Aviation_Intel Another option to consider is that rich people could just fly commercial like everybody else.

The shot just fired by this platform at the OSINT community & flight tracking accounts is stunning. Using blanket rules to deal with a single unique situation is telling. Open source flight tracking has become a critical tool for reporting on events & important subjects.

@bolhuijo That is a really good idea. Another alternative to consider is buying the FAA and rewriting the rules.

I’m no aviation expert, but one technique for avoiding being tracked by ADS-B is to fly on commercial airlines. Sounds crazy I know, but it might work.

@robsonink @AkilahObviously Not sure if this is helpful, but I’m generally on the other side of this as someone hiring contractors on behalf of big cos. Most shops are set up to pay large vendors a lot of money, not 1 person. Easier for everybody if you are with multiple people and charge a lot.

Has it become industry standard to pay creators ridiculously late for their work? I’ve struggled ALL year with ALL the large companies I work for to get paid on the agreed time. I’m talking MONTHS late… it’s sad how nervous I am to even talk about this publicly in fear of—

Very difficult to imagine a woman CEO doing the same without that part being the major story. I haven’t even seen his kids MENTIONED in the context of the twitter takeover and how he’s using his time.

Can we talk about the fact that Elon has two children under age 4 and nobody has even questioned if he should be spending 24 hours of every day at the Twitter offices?

@copyconstruct I doubt there were many truly “clueless” eng org leaders. There was (kinda still is) a very real war for talent. Perks and comp are a big part of the draw for highly sought after employees, without which the same companies might have failed.

Turns out some CEOs - who were clueless enough not to realize that Google-like perks are only possible when your margins are high enough - now believe copying what Elon is doing at Twitter will usher in a “builders paradise” at their companies. Big, it it turns out to be true.
Gavin Baker@GavinSBaker

1) The fact that Twitter is running well with headcount down significantly really matters. Whether they admit or not, everyone in SV admires Elon. A lot of venture funded CEOs are sending emails like this; inspired by Elon and taking drastic action. Margins are going up.

The situation in Soledar-Bakhmut is difficult, but the Russian Ministry of Defense is continuing its tactic of "let's attack Ukraine at their strongest points over and over again" because they lack the combat power to encircle an area as big as Bakhmut/Soledar 15/FIN

Exactly this A 🧵about what we're being told about the situation in Bakhmut by people who are in Bakhmut without violating OPSEC - absolutely NOT directed at @AndrewPerpetua, who is doing tremendous work 1/
Andrew Perpetua@AndrewPerpetua

If you talk to Ukrainians or Russians, the ones who actually know what they are talking about, they will tell you about the differences in the battle today in Bakhmut versus the battle in Popasna. The differences are: airpower and artillery. Namely, Russia has *much* less of both

group of six year old boys were raucously comparing their biceps. I told them they had to eat vegetables to get a six pack and now they are all studiously scarfing down salads. never thought I'd say this but that's one point in favor of toxic masculinity

@michaelhilton @hyrumwright Yeah that’s better. After some thought, I rather like “system health” or possibly something else that reflects “how safe are changes in this system”.

Lots of people in software talk about “technical debt”, but I don’t think we have a shared definition of this term. Also I think the metaphor is bad. Rarely do we explicitly “borrow” some bad, faster to write code.

Wikipedia is voting on the deletion of the entry for Elon Musk’s Twitter Files because the editors have deemed it a “nothing burger” that is “not notable” because the media didn’t give it enough coverage. These people work hand in hand with the MSM to shape the narrative.

@doriaKeung @banksean Sure your definition makes more cohesive sense. But that’s not what most people mean when they use the term. I think people mean roughly, “stuff that sucks to work on”.

doria.@doriaKeung·
@banksean @votecapgood this then translates to projects down the stack. as these projects come to fruition, things shipped and maintained become your "tech equity". things shipped but are not maintained would be your "tech debt" -- you're borrowing against your platform to reach short term gains.
