My heart was full yesterday as I joined friends and fellow disciples of Christ as we participated in the dedication of the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Temple. Pittsburgh is often referred to as the “city of bridges” because of its 446 bridges—more than any other city in the world. Just as these bridges are designed to connect one place to another, the purpose of God’s temples is to connect heaven and earth. For each of us, regardless of whichever of the Lord’s temples we attend, the temple can be a place where we may commune with the Lord. When you come because you feel grief or confusion, the Lord will offer you serenity and inner peace. Let us always remember that Jesus Christ is at the center of the temple, its ordinances, and its covenants. May He also be at the center of our lives as we strive to live as He lived.

@caleb_kirksey @NathanClubb When we spent 5 months in Europe with 5 children ages 1yo-10yo, we spent a lot of time at playgrounds. Our family still talks about how amazing some of them were compared to our bland US counterparts.

@NathanClubb This was one of my big takeaways from visiting Italy. I actually made a documentary about the importance of the park/playground to a community there: youtu.be/oKtmBk7UOXE

Last week, thanks to help from @daye_nam, we used a class in Foundations of Software Engineering (cmu-313.github.io) to collaboratively learn about #ChatGPT. It was very interesting, and I would like to share some observations here. a 🧵

Sunrise over the Ohio River this morning, courtesy of our ITO. The 12Z 🎈launch indicates a strong inversion overhead. This means some locations may observe poor air quality today. Check out the latest report where you are via airnow.gov.

When people don't do what you expect of them, sometimes it is expectations, but often execution. Reinforcing expectations is often demoralizing when the problem is execution. Solving the actual problem takes effort and time, not just telling people what to do again.

Did to know that you can give praise during code reviews? It will change the whole atmosphere of your code review and show how much the team appreciates the effort of each other.

@cmeik "Practical Aspects of Software Engineering" would be a great seminar/course/whatever. @TitusWinters this seems relevant to your interests.

Apparently there are people from the DOT that cruise around the freight rail network in a passenger car inspecting safety stuff.

It's interesting that more and more people are mentioning "Hyrum's Law", and it makes a lot of sense. Because the more consumers your #API has, the more it matters to know that law and to plan for it. Here's @hyrumwright of Hyrum's Law talking about it: youtu.be/5Wdgjw6IGDM

@heathercmiller We submit thousands of tool-generated (and tool-reviewed) changes to our code base at Google every week. The tools are mostly static-analysis-driven for specific patterns, not general purpose code generators.

Code that was generated by a tool. So you trust it? (i.e., would you accept it/keep it in a codebase that you maintain long-term?)
