@hughesthenews BBC article neglects to mention Scotland’s National Naloxone Programme (est’ 2011). The medicine is stocked in all community pharmacies in Scotland for easier access when needed in an emergency overdose situation [spread the word] :)

Many pharmacies also already offer a ‘Take home Naloxone’ (THN) service for friends & families of those at risk of opiate overdose as part of the board’s drug and alcohol services mentioned. This is not clear in the article. Greater public awareness and tackling stigma required.

Sadly, it’s been my experience having gone back to ‘the coal face’ that there’s still a perceived lack of enough time and resource for QI approaches at clinical service levels.

It certainly reminds me of the content and ambition in the 2010 Quality Strategy for Scotland…🫤 The country as a whole needs QI graduates (and QI efforts in general) better connected and invested in nationally. Also keen to see more of these ‘measurable improvements’ shared. 🤔

@crystalski Hi Sarah-Jayne, get in touch if you’d like further details. The situation was chaotic and I see by searching twitter it seems a regular occurrence. However, I think there are a few simple actions that could’ve alleviated the situation and would’ve appeased customers.

If we want to build learning systems for improvement, we must encourage our teams to be curious. A culture of curiosity leads to psychological safety, experimentation & problem solving. Yet a recent large study found most leaders regard curious people as "insubordinate" & like them less than people who don't question things. However, curious people who are politically skilled are liked & supported by their leaders. Lessons for leaders AND change agents here. @HelenBevan The opposite of belonging is 'fitting right in'. So many of us mould ourselves to "the way we do things around here" to fit in, to feel safe. What if speaking up and sharing our authentic selves was the real way to fit in? Thanks @BreneBrown for your research on belonging ✊

(1/2) It’s high time NHS looks at improving access for people’s OWN data. It’s incredulous that people are told to go home and wait on a letter this day and age (which can take months) when likes of Amazon etc allows for alerts and up to the MINUTE delivery updates. #Newcastle

Bringing our bad mood to work can have greater impact than we think. Recent research from @LSEManagement suggests that leaders who demonstrate consistent positive emotions at work (as opposed to fluctuating emotions) create the conditions for more positive, engaged teams & better outcomes. The researchers say leaders should: 1) Build emotional intelligence (EQ), including a deep understanding of emotions at work 2) Recognise the power of maintaining consistent positive emotions at work 3) Be aware just how much our own emotions can be influenced by the mood or behaviours of the people who lead us: blogs.lse.ac.uk/businessreview…
