Pixies playing “Trompe Le Monde” on Letterman in Feb 1992. This was their US network TV debut. What an amazing, weird song to play, and with the full Letterman band. I count 4 guitars, and Paul and Sid’s solos are bonkers.

Not too far back I watched this movie again and thought it was delightful. Charming and upbeat - bright. But because I ruminate constantly - finding negativity everywhere - I started wondering what happened to Audrey Tautou. She just stopped acting. She is one of those women who are cute when young - but don’t transition to ‘stately older woman.’ Or maybe she could but just doesn’t want to. Meanwhile Juliette Binoche did a sex scene a few years ago - and she’s older than Tautou. Charlotte Rampling also did a sex scene in her 50s. I sorta respect that daring, that defiance of age.

PALM SPRINGS was released 6 years ago today. Still one of the smartest, funniest, and most inventive time-loop movies in years. It deserved far more attention than it got.

I bought two tickets to the Odyssey. They cost $27 a piece, and the film is three hours long. So, with the drive there and back, I'm looking at a five-hour investment of my time for this. Will it be worth it?
