Do you guys know that we have a “departure tax”? It is when you move out of Canada, the government pretends you sold certain assets at market value and taxes the “paper gains,” even if you didn’t sell anything. Only in Canada are you taxed on income you didn’t earn, assets you didn’t sell all because you left. The departure tax is just an exit fee with better branding!
