We're close to having all historical figures as avatars who you can talk to or teach what they knew... even have the personality and behavioural traits they had in real life... I give you... Nikola Tesla

@AlanKohler @TheNewDailyAu I’m with you Alan. We have disconnected gas from our house and loving it. Induction cooking is the way to go. People confuse it with the old ceramic. Who wants an open flame fire in their kitchen? Plenty of connection to childhood asthma too.

@cpaterso @emollick @mrdavidhoward What blows my mind is that it can take multimodal inputs (image of the task, markups on the image, live video, text, and audio) and simultaneously process all of it whilst responding appropriately to abstract concepts. Our 5 senses are so limited in comparison. 🤯

There are a ton of little things that could be improved to make this a better tutor... but it is impossible to watch this video & not see a coming transformation in education, given this is GPT-4o out of the box. We need to decide how to integrate it into education, starting now

@cpaterso @tomwhitby Interesting. The first is the easiest choice, the second can work but takes confidence to put into practice (I don’t agree with using instagram to communicate though)!

I got invited to speak at the background brief for a new research report on the impact of new workplace technologies on the quality of life & wellbeing of the workforce. Results showed that: 1) digital information and communication technologies (laptops, tablets, smartphones and real-time messaging tools) correlated with improved quality of life 2) newer and more advanced technologies (wearables, robotics, AI and ML software) were correlated with reduced wellbeing. The findings emphasise the importance of the underpinning approach to change. There will be less impact on wellbeing if people feel that change is done with them, in a human-centred way, not to them. ifow.org/publications/w…. Via @FutureWorkInst. We cannot be taken seriously as educators, let alone professionals, when we 1) use a product called "Magic School." 2) Get ourselves certified in it. 3) Believe in magic. This generative AI mania is Google Buzz. Or is it Google Wave? I can never remember.

@Optus compensation for the outage, boosted speeds that you have to apply to your own account every 24 hours. What percentage of customers will have remembered? What percentage will then go and apply it every 24 hours? @bengrubb @MarcFennell @AlanKohler
