As an old salt my first sea bunk was a thin mattress placed on top of a stretched canvas frame that no matter how much you tightened it, it sagged in the middle. Our “locker” was a metal cube 30x30x18 into which we were expected to store our entire sea bag. The transition to the bunk/locker was great. No sagging and a spacious locker under the mattress.
