And Segall himself embodied it, pitching the name iMac over and over, even after Steve had settled on MacMan. That’s conviction in coherence. You need the obsessive at the top and the obsessives in the trenches.

This reminds me of how Ken Segall wrote about this obsession in Insanely Simple. Steve didn’t just care about the billboard, he’d lose sleep over the every little detail like the kerning.

Apple is the purest proof of this. Not just the products. The unboxing. The retail store. The font on a spec sheet. The white earbuds in a sea of black. A privacy policy pop up. A simple featured copy. Same restraint, every single time.

These are just a few things we Arc users love and don't want to give up.

It's about that (almost) full-screen and distraction-free view without any top bar. It's about how the pin tabs, folders and spaces behave. The small quality of life shortcuts, like CMD + Shift + C to copy the current tab link. The way someone can copy links of multiple tabs.

This is what everyone who competes with Arc gets wrong. It is not just about the vertical tabs. Dia (Arc's own sister) has vertical tabs, but still, so many people don't use it and still run Arc. It's about the collapsible sidebar.

A super interesting new study from Harvard Business Review. A 8-month field study at a US tech company with about 200 employees found that AI use did not shrink work, it intensified it, and made employees busier. Task expansion happened because AI filled in gaps in knowledge, so people started doing work that used to belong to other roles or would have been outsourced or deferred. That shift created extra coordination and review work for specialists, including fixing AI-assisted drafts and coaching colleagues whose work was only partly correct or complete. Boundaries blurred because starting became as easy as writing a prompt, so work slipped into lunch, meetings, and the minutes right before stepping away. Multitasking rose because people ran multiple AI threads at once and kept checking outputs, which increased attention switching and mental load. Over time, this faster rhythm raised expectations for speed through what became visible and normal, even without explicit pressure from managers.
