I worked in the commercial pool industry when PPG owned the accu-tab system. I have a gray white pool for safety reasons because we use our pool at night.

My pool is white-gray, and I don’t like how easily it shows stains. However, because my pool is deeper, I prefer a lighter color for safety reasons

However, it shouldn’t matter if the chemicals are done correctly, filters are working correctly & you aren’t losing chemicals due to water loss. Lots of people have black bottom pools & love them.

If you want to calculate the water temp delta be my guest. Will the blue cause the water temp to rise? We'll soon find out. They fixed the chemistry while the pool is dry?

Depending where the pipes are located it is best to do while the water is gone. I am sure testing will be done when it is filled again. 500,000 gallons per week is a fair amount of water & chemical loss.

However, the pipe used in the filtration system was the wrong size, which caused leaks. The 2026 repairs corrected the faulty piping in the filtration system.

I wouldn’t even swim in my pool if it was only 89 degrees outside. I would actually need the heater on because that water would be too cold. Good chemistry stops algae growth.

@Afterseven @johnnymaga You absolutely do not want a white pool. In one year you will have stains no matter how good you keep your pool. In this location you can have people throw metal & that will cause rust stains. That is what 1000’s of people go with the black bottom pools.

@johnnymaga It should be white and just use chlorine. Black or Dark Blue will absorb the heat, leading to accelerated algae growth and is idiotic.
