This has been the same point I’ve been focused on. Judas was offered communion by Jesus…. In the midst of his sin. Communion is offered for the forgiveness of sins… not as a reward for the righteous. (And not one of us is righteous.)

I feel I’ve said this a million times already in my life but here’s my entire communion theology: If Judas got to take communion, *everybody* gets to take communion. It’s not our table. There are appropriate places to make a stand. It’s NOT the communion table, for me, ever.

At the grocery store today, a sweet older man wearing a mask was quietly asking all of the unmasked shoppers if they’d “had the shot.” And when anyone said yes, his eyes lit up and he said “oh, good for YOU.” It was completely charming because it was so clearly authentic.
