That full Zelensky-Vance-Trump convo will be analyzed and dissected to no end in International Relations 101 classes for aspiring diplomats as a classic example of what NOT to do.
Eastern Europeans sound pretty rude to the Anglo world. Part of it is an artifact of their language(s). Part of it is just the handicap of using English as a second language and not picking up the complexities of slang and tone.
Moral of the story: for high stakes negotiations, hire an interpreter, even if you think your English is good enough. Also they are trained to make sure to not convey the emotional content of the message and by slowing down the back-and-forth, it tends to be a natural brake on escalation.

VP Vance asked for a thank you for an aid package he voted against. His administration also told Zelensky that he (1) has to give up parts of his country to Putin , (2) cant join NATO, (3) has to pay back the US for past aid, and (4) there will no new aid. So exactly why does Vance think he is owed a thank you?
