There's very few things that Dad really hated in life. He *HATED* the loser point. Capslock, underline, bold, italics size 72 HATED. It's illogical, and nothing will piss a numbers guy off (particularly a former banker that audited finances for a large bank) than numbers that appear out of thin air. The leagues argument that it would affect comparison to previous results didn't pass the smell test and it still doesn't. It should have been 3-2-1, he knew it and deep down the league knows it (see: 4NFO). They should just Mea culpa and fix this once and for all. He hated the loser point, I hate the loser point, and you should too.

@BLuchanski Sad, but necessary. The envelope is failing and is a safety risk currently (leaks, rusts, snow & ice falls onto sidewalks), so they have to do something to address those, and just replacing the panels with new ones doesn't address a lot of that.

@dhockey13 Yup! And his mistakes are over analyzed because he's in Edmonton. He makes similar amounts to other top D, but people remember his more. When you have the puck as much as he does, there's gonna be fumbles that's just hockey, and when your goalies suck they end up on highlights.

People on this app disrespect Bouchard far too much. Is he perfect defensively? No by all means he’s not and he makes his mistakes, but what he makes up for it is his elite ability to make things happen in a second. I wouldn’t change the player he is l if I had the choice to.

several things: most importantly - models are always nothing more than guidance. the spread in the latest runs is STILL between highs of 4 and 12 lol... 2) grid size matters. the highest-res models are doing much better. the larger-grid modelling has been way too "cool". 3) there's a bit of urban heat island effect going on today. 4) Transition days in shoulder seasons are particularly difficult for models and human forecasters have to "massage" them. I went with a high of 12 yesterday (for today) thinking 10-14 was a reasonable range (still a bit too low) - despite the fact almost no model runs were going that warm.

@Buccigross An NHL/NHLPA event that requires the IIHF to play ball because there’s like 4 countries that can field exclusively NHL rosters. They have to work with the federations to release non NHL players. By gaining Russia you lose at least 3 other countries

The 2028 World Cup is an NHL/NHLPA for profit initiative. Zero politics-just pure hockey Patriotism. Would you ban Russian players from playing in the NHL?--Maybe you would--But they are not. Then why and how would you ban union members from an NHL/NHLPA event? The event is selling the game, not making statements. A huge majority of fans want Russia in. The players want Russia to play. And the NHL should want it. They make a major contribution to the business of the NHL. I'm a little surprised the PA would agree to a tournament without all of its members. And if other countries are threatening not to allow their NHL players to play in a fun and awesome hockey tournament, then I'd say, "OK. You can tell your players that."
